i kid, a little, but overall this was uneven for me. the single POV meant that i didn't really get to know the hero and the fact they both were in love with someone else at the start made the HEA definitely feel more like a HFN. We spent a LOT of time having Gabi explain herself to other people and not her love interest and that made the plot drag, and the spicy parts felt almost cut in to have them, not as integral to the romance. In fact if I am remembering correctly the first time they are intimate there's a weird fade to black and we miss a lot of it off the gate. I don't like that.
Any way, eh. I'd try more from the author but this wasn't an instant hit for me.
Also, again, he took her to dinner at the public library during close which i guess worked for the heroine but for me, NOPE (this is a me issue)....more
Narrator Mara Wilson could have had more differentiation between character voices for my person listening preference, and the third person present (siNarrator Mara Wilson could have had more differentiation between character voices for my person listening preference, and the third person present (single POV) was really throwing me in the audio. Switching to print was a bit better, but overall I wasn't super enchanted by this story or the characters. Ghost Everett had more character building than the love interest, who was quite a cipher to me besides being grumpy and hot.
For character that didn't know each other at all prior to their meet disaster, the romance arc didn't work for me.
thank you to the publisher for the advance ARC & ALC. Professional review TK for Audiofile Magazine....more
narrator for Adrian had a higher pitched voice than i was imagining, but once i settled into the story amy audio review will be in Audiofile Magazine.
narrator for Adrian had a higher pitched voice than i was imagining, but once i settled into the story and narrators that did not vex me. I did prefer the narration from Gen's chapters though.
A delicious and steamy beach read set in Panama, loved it. casually queer, loved that Adrian's bisexuality was not a plot point that caused conflict between him and Gen at all
the pacing went a little off kilter there at the end, but overall this is a perfect summer read!...more
