alright. this book was alright. Kirkman is a good storyteller. excellent pacing. good dialogue. Azaceta's art is also really good. lots of detail. crisp alright. this book was alright. Kirkman is a good storyteller. excellent pacing. good dialogue. Azaceta's art is also really good. lots of detail. crisp facial expressions. and i especially like the highlighted panels--very cinematic. it's just so damn male-centric. i don't think i would've ever noticed it in the past (being a male comic reader) but there aren't any strong female characters in this book. all of them are mothers, daughters, and wives, and nothing more. it's frustrating really. i mean. this is Robert Kirkman, right? INVINCIBLE. THE WALKING DEAD. Kirkman's written about so many women who have their own goals, opinions, motivations, flaws, progressions, etc... i liked OUTCAST, Volume 1. i did. i'll continue reading. but man. :/...more

enjoyable read. the character is starting to normalize/plateau imo, which isn't a bad thing, but i think Kamala is coming down from her high. i'll defenjoyable read. the character is starting to normalize/plateau imo, which isn't a bad thing, but i think Kamala is coming down from her high. i'll definitely pick up the last trade to complete the set but probably won't keep it in my library. i really, really enjoyed this! while it's easier to write an origin for a brand new character, GWW did an exceptional job penning this first volume. Kai really, really enjoyed this! while it's easier to write an origin for a brand new character, GWW did an exceptional job penning this first volume. Fraction and Zdarsky are utilizing sex as a vehicle to peak people's interests and it fucking works. i hope that volume two picks up the pace and is even more clever than the first otherwise it's something that could definitely run out of gas. it'd be sad to see all of this creative nuance become a flash in the pan. we shall see!...more

Air Volume 1 has a rocky start. i think there is definitely a story here but it took five issues to get me invested. the pacing was way too fast given Air Volume 1 has a rocky start. i think there is definitely a story here but it took five issues to get me invested. the pacing was way too fast given that the focus was on the characters more than the events going on; it felt like there was nothing but action OR nothing but exposition. i did enjoy and appreciate the direction that Wilson is taking it but i'm not really a fan of the opening path that she chose to get there. the art is okay, standard 2000s Vertigo. some scenes could have been better framed but overall had a decent look. if i have an opportunity to keep reading Air, i will but as of now i just don't have the time....more
