it was a very pleasant little novella. took my time with this one as i will finally sit down in the same boat as everyone else, patiently waiting for it was a very pleasant little novella. took my time with this one as i will finally sit down in the same boat as everyone else, patiently waiting for the third book in the Kingkiller Chronicles... getting a peak into the mind of Auri was nice. i wish it were longer. part of me wishes to know definitively when this story takes place. the accompanying art was a treat. not for everyone, and especially not for those who have yet to read The Name of the Wind (at the very least). > hence the lowered score...more

RJB is a wonderful storyteller. i'm actually going to check out Company Man later this year. hope it's great!...more

what a genuinely enjoyable read. while i'm more of a YGO kid, MTG has always had a soft spot in my heart and when this galley was thrust on to me by ouwhat a genuinely enjoyable read. while i'm more of a YGO kid, MTG has always had a soft spot in my heart and when this galley was thrust on to me by our publishing rep i was really touched! also as a YGO kid, i recognize the longevity of Magic and am happy to have it still be around. i learned a hell of a lot, and it would seem that many businesses have learned from Wizards of the Coast & Magic: The Gathering did as well. i'm excited for this one, recommending it like crazy. i'm also hyped for a different cover. lolz....more

i was pleasantly surprised to receive Normal last monday night (11/28)! i'm a big fan of Warren Ellis and through most of 2016 i kept seeing it on ordi was pleasantly surprised to receive Normal last monday night (11/28)! i'm a big fan of Warren Ellis and through most of 2016 i kept seeing it on order then cancelled, on order and then cancelled... very early on it was slated to be a hardcover... anyway! it's out! it's a paperback original! go read it! fast forward a couple days to wed afternoon (11/30); it's my day off, i went to a coffee shop and started reading. 100 pages later, my coffee is cold and my phone rang and i had to go do a thing in real life. honestly i would've sat there and finished it all in one sitting. for anyone familiar with Ellis' writing, this is very much in line with Gun Machine. the characters and the world felt similar. i would've loved if Normal was twice as long and had a slower burn to the plot. that said, it still felt good, it felt complete. good stocking stuffer if you have a mystery reader in your life....more
a friend of mine absolutely loved Mort(e) and have been meaning to read it, finally did, and read it fairly quickly. i was surprised by a lot of what Ra friend of mine absolutely loved Mort(e) and have been meaning to read it, finally did, and read it fairly quickly. i was surprised by a lot of what Repino did here... the set up was amazingly fast and at the same time, very poignant, which i loved. and the meat of the story was actually very satisfying... what left me wanting was the 'pay off' of the main mystery -- i want to be intentionally vague about it. while i was let down by certain aspects of the story, i think it's well worth your time to read, as well as discuss! i'm curious enough about CULDESAC and any other books involved in the world of Mort(e). it was good, kinda real good, but not the best thing i've read. again, worth your time....more
