I didn’t even have any expectations toward the story, but it managed to be this dull. Here are the reasons why I didn’t like this book:
THE PLOT
The plot was so slow and dragging a lot of times. There were so many descriptions and informations; but honestly I couldn’t care less about them. Perhaps it’s because it’s info-dumping or perhaps it’s because I was extremely bored reading it. I also skimmed reading it and frankly speaking, the course of the story and ending weren’t exciting at all. I wasn’t even intrigued or had a slight of curiosity for how the book ended. I just finished it because I bought for it and I tried not to waste my money. Lol.
THE CHARACTERS
My God, the characters were AWFUL. TERRIBLE. The book is narrated in two point of views and they’re all horrendously dull. It’s been a while since I truly loathed a main character and the female character managed to pull it off since the beginning of the story. I couldn’t stand her at all. There’s no problem in having weaknesses or being sensitive person. But this female character which I forget the name cried for all sorts of strange things and it happened a lot. She’s also stubborn in a foolish and dangerous way. I honestly don’t get what’s going on inside of her head. She couldn’t think logically based on reasons, pros and cons. Wow.
The love interest was slight better. Slightly. He wasn’t annoying. I didn’t loath him. But still he’s such a bore. Not exciting at all. At first I pretty enjoyed reading his point of view but then around the middle of the book I just didn’t care about his POV any longer lol. He’s just not remarkable at all. The personality and the characterization weren’t interesting.
THE ROMANCE
Don’t get me started on the romance. I loathed the female character and the male character was so dull. I couldn’t stand both of them and I honestly didn’t understand how the love interest actually liked the main character? Like how? She didn’t think logically. She’s foolish. She’s annoying.
REASONS I LIKED THIS BOOK:
NONE. I HATE THIS. I WASTED THE TIME OF MY LIFE READING THIS. What is it with me and terrible books? I seem to read unenjoyable books most of the time. It seems like a curse at this point. ...more
I had this huge reading slump that last for a year and thankfully, I got back the motivation and also the interest to read again. I have to admit thatI had this huge reading slump that last for a year and thankfully, I got back the motivation and also the interest to read again. I have to admit that I’ve never read Romeo and Juliet (moreover, I studied English Lit back in the undergraduate studies lol. I know it’s shocking) but still the plot of the book highly intrigued me. On top of that the cover also looked so gorgeous.
Historical fiction has never been my cup of tea. I tried reading a couple of books in this genre and I didn’t enjoy any of those reads. But, it never hinders me from reading one though. Maybe I’ll love some books in this genre one day. Sadly, this book isn’t one of those books. I didn’t enjoy reading it.
The main characters were dull. On the contrary, the secondary characters whom I forgot the names (the main character’s friends) were more interesting, alive and also funnier. The pacing of the book was very slow and dragging. Don’t get me wrong I love books that give us lots of informations; but the informations in this book were too much and I expected more actions. I was halfway through the book and there weren’t that many actions scenes. Yes, I did skim reading it because I was bored and wanted to finish reading it; so that I could read another book.
Overall, the story was original and fresh. I’ve never read anything like this. However, I still couldn’t enjoy reading it. Maybe it’s because of my own expectations. *sighs* ...more

I was supposed to review this book two months ago, but well ... I was pretty lazy that time after getting all my examinations done. So here I am reviewing this book! I'm honestly glad and happy to be back reviewing. It's one of the things that I love to do ... when I am not feeling lazy. :p
To be honest, I read this book because I heard it's Mulan retelling? and I love Mulan so much that I literally will read anything that is Mulan retelling. It's kind of complicated to describe how I feel toward this book. It was a bad book, I quite enjoyed reading it in the beginning but then when I was nearing the end of the book, I just couldn't give the book my attention and I seemed to get restless every time I read it. It's like I managed to find myself some distractions and when I finished reading the book, the only feeling I felt was relieved because it meant I could finally read something else.
The plot of the book was neither fast nor slow. It was the right pace. But the deeper I went into the story, the more boring it became. I initially got thrilled in reading the book, because it TOTALLY sounded like a book that I would adore and show to my friends how I loved it. However, it did not happen. What happened was that I got bored reading the book. It was just that I somehow could not get myself entangled with the plot of the book or just immersed myself in the competition within the book. I don't know why, but I was just bored with the whole story. Maybe it was because I had expectations of the book because I expected to read an action-packed book that left me wondering and exhilarated. But I mostly did not feel anything while reading. But, there were also moment where I felt sorry to Maia and hoped for a better situation. But, I still remember clearly that nearing the end of the book I just wanted it to be over already and I admit I skimmed reading it a bit.
The main characters are Maia and Edan and I don't know what to say about them. I did not dislike them, but I did not adore them at the same time. They're just fine. I loved Maia's determination and Edan could be funny sometimes and I quite liked the interaction between him and Maia. They often bickered over petty things, but it's entertaining and made me laugh. I guess, if Edan hadn't been quite funny, I wouldn't have been able to finish reading it. I guess those are the only things I could think of about the main characters. There is a romance in the book. I wouldn't really call it enemies to lovers, because I don't think they hated one another. It's just one them regarded the other one as annoying person. The romance is definitely slow-burn, but IT WAS DULL. DRY. LACK OF SPARK. TEDIOUS. I just couldn't feel anything for the romance.
All in all, I did not regret reading the book. It was quite good in the beginning, but I couldn't put my full attention to the book nearing the end due to boredom. Thank you for reading the review and liking it! I appreciate it very much. Hope you all have a fabulous day!

I'm so relieved right now that I can just sit down and review this book because I had been very busy with final examinations and assignment for the past few weeks. *phew* okay, let's the review begins!
My Opinion Time!
I have watched some of the episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and while I am not really a fan of BtVS, I still like BtVS. It's really fun to watch and funny! even though I did not know much about Btvs, I was still excited to read this book. Moreover, that cover sort of looked spookey and compelled me to read it.
So I was in reading slump when I read this book and let me tell you that I that I am so grateful to read this book and also to Ms White because this book totally SLAYED my reading slump. However, I cannot give this book more than 3 stars because while I am grateful the book saved me from reading slump, the book was not amazing. Like the kind of amazement that leaves you gaping and grins or clap your hands or hug the book. But still it was pretty good though.
The Plot
The plot was fun to read and this book was action-packed which what I needed at that time when reading slump hit me. The book was filled with adventures and they were pretty exhilarating to read. So I didn't have time to be bored while reading it because I actually did not have the time to do it and the book simply did not give a chance of a boring moment. Every moments in the book were interesting and made me curious and questioning everything. The pacing was slow and it did not rush anything. It's like every moments took their own times in the book but they did not drag on though. The pacing was just perfect and I had nothing to complain about it.
There were also some references of Buffy and some characters that I knew from BtVS and I honestly got so excited when I read those references because strangely it kinda felt nostalgic for me like they were old friends of mine, even though I've only watched some of the BtVS episodes and not all.
The Characters and The Romance
You know I would totally give this book 4 stars without batting an eye, IF ONLY I could like the main character (s). So first of all, Nina is the main character. Even though I did not have any connection to her and I just felt like I was merely reading without feeling anything, she was a sort of refreshing character. So it's not like she suddenly became kickass heroine. Sometimes she was clueless and did not know what to do but it did not mean she was hopeless. There were also times when she knew what to do. So it's refreshing you know to read this kind of character. The kind of character that also has vulnerability and also strength at the same time. BUT again I did not have any connection to her and she did not really get me excited.
AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON LEO. That guy was one dimensional character. He lacked personalities and I don't know what else to say. He bored me so much and he made me want to cry tears of boredom. How could a character be this boring? and just not memorable and I could not feel any spark of romance between Nina and him. The romance was just bland and lack of intensity or some kind of bond that I could feel. It's pretty sad because I was hoping that I would love their romance :(
[image]
But thankfully! there were characters that I liked. They were Artemis and Honora. Artemis was not really a remarkable character but she's a good sister to her twin sister, Nina, and she loved Nina very much and I admit that Honora could irk me a bit because she could be pretty annoying but Honora's relationship with Artemis was so sweet and I could feel their feelings and love for each other. There was a scene that made me so soft in the inside and made me squeal! I wish I could see their interactions more. Basically, I LOVED their relationship.
Oh and I also liked Rhys and Cillian! They made me laugh and this couple made me smile several times because I was happy for them and the love for each other was palpable. These characters made the book fun to read and made feel this warmth every time I read them.
If you haven't read this book. I think you should give it a try because it's a pretty exciting book and if you're a fan of Buffy then I think you'll feel very nostalgic when you read it.
Thank you very much for reading this review and liking it! I hope you all have an amazing day.

Me: i'm sorry, book. I tried but I just can't do it anymore. *painfully puts the book back on my shelf*
I am so disappointed right now. It's the kind of disappointment that is hard to explain with words. Maybe the problem I didn't finish reading this book was because of my expectations of reading a book that made my heart pounding fast and played with my emotions or maybe it was because of the reading slump or both.
I just couldn't immerse myself in the story of the book and when I read I felt like I wanted it to be over already and honestly I don't know how many times I fell asleep while reading it AND I ONLY fall asleep while reading it's either because I am exhausted or the book is extremely boring. Unfortunately, the reason falls to the latter cause.
I thought the book would make feel like this
[image]
instead I felt like this
[image]
LIKE IT WAS SO FUCKING BORING and there was even a moment where I just clutched my hair because I tried my best not to dnf it and keep reading it but wow I can't do it anymore. I can't. I don't want to torture myself with a book that I clearly do not enjoy to read. So here are the reasons why I didn't finish reading it.
The Plot
Actually, the plot was original and it's retelling of Beauty and the Beast which is one of my favorite tales! I thought I would enjoy reading this book because the book sounded so intriguing and good and something that I would admire and loved but oh well that did not happen. I both liked and did not like the plot. I liked the originality of the plot. It was like a fresh breath of air! but I also did not like it at the same time because it was boring. Look, I expected a book that played with my feelings and made me on the edge of my seat but that did not happen. It was just too ... boring.
At first, I was excited to read it but then I slowly began to feel like I had to continue reading it because I had to try my best first to finish reading it and who knew that maybe I would like it later on. But it never happened. I kept reading it until I just couldn't bear the boredom anymore. I am currently having so many assignment at the moment and I'm a little bit stressed and in this kind of moment I need a book that can make me feel happy or excited or anything and I certainly do not want to torture myself with a boring book especially in this moment. I've got enough on my plate, okay. But well, at least I tried to finish reading it even though I failed.
The Development of Relationship
I actually liked the development of relationship between the characters. Such as the relationship between Grey and Harper. It's sweet and friendly to me but while I liked it, I also thought that it was pretty ... peculiar and shocking to me. I mean, Harper was brought to Emberfall from her world and she tried to escape and go home and the friendship between her and Grey was pretty shocking because it was too fast in my opinion. I expected her to be distrustful ... at least until the middle of the book. Like you know, she did not trust this guy easily or made a friendship easily with him ... or at least that was what I would do in her positioned
and also I could not feel anything toward the relationship between Harper and Rhen. I almost always liked enemies to lovers trope but not in this case. I could not see or feel any spark between these two characters. Like I don't know ... the development of their relationship was like bland and the banter between them were not really good. *sighs*
Thank you very much for reading this review and liking it! I appreciate it very much and if you love this book, then I am happy to hear that! and if you haven't read it, please do not let my review be a hindrance for you to read it. If you still want to read the book or you're curious about it, then go for it! Maybe you'll like it. :) It's just me that I personally could not bring myself to immerse in the story of the book and enjoyed reading it. Hope you all have a nice day! ❤❤

I honestly don't know where to begin. This book disappointed me very much and it's not like I had high expectations before reading it, in fact my expectations before reading it were pretty low because I didn't know what to expect and I just wanted to read it. I thought that at least this would be a 3 star read for me but nope, that didn't happen or maybe this book just isn't a cup of my tea.
To be honest, I rarely read books about sirens or pirates and I don't know why, those aren't really my favorites but if the stories were good or seemed good for me, then I would definitely read them and I read this book because they synopsis sounded good and I was intrigued to know more about the book and I wish I didn't read this book. I fucking wasted my time.
There were some parts that I liked in this book though ( thankfully! ).
❤ I liked how brutal and scary it was. It was pretty scary and interesting to read and this book was good enough if I only thought about how scary and brutal it was. ❤ The secondary characters! omg I really liked Madrid and Kye. They were such good characters and They were A LOT more interesting than Lira or Elian. Madrid and Kye made me laugh or grinned several times and they were also cute and I liked them so much!
What I did not like :
☹ The pacing of the book was really slow. I love slow pacing books but THAT WAS TOO SLOW and I was bored. I kept reading it because I was still patient enough and I still wanted to know more about the book BUT OH MY GOD, THIS BOOK WAS SO SLOW and I did not have the patience anymore to read it so I skimmed reading it when I reached page 214.
☹ This book was fucking boring. I swear, I almost always fell asleep or felt sleepy when I read this book. ( except when Madrid or Kye made me laugh or when the book scared me ) There were actions scenes in this book but they just didn't hold my interest. The book was just boring and when I read this book time moved so slow and I just couldn't read fast enough and it frustrated me! because I just wanted to finish reading this book. That's all I wanted.
☹ I don't know what to say about Elian and Lira. They were not plain but they were not interesting either. The only characters that I cared were Madrid and Kye. I didn't care about Elian and Lira.
☹ I can't say much about the romance other than I didn't care about it and I also didn't feel anything toward the romance.
Basically, I am just so disappointed right now and I wasted my time reading it.

I dived into this book ecstatically because it sounded so good and intriguing and honestly I thought that I would love this book after reading it. well, the book was indeed good but I have to admit that I didn't love it. I wanted to love the book but I couldn't. I liked this book though and I did not regret spending my free time by reading this book.
The writing style in this book was pretty and I liked it and I also loved that this book made me open dictionary a lot because of the vocabularies that I didn't know because that way I could increase my knowledge about vocabularies! the plot of the book was slow-paced but it did not drag on or boring. I think this is the kind of slow pacing that does not make you feel bored because in that moment you also get to know the characters and all the things that happen are also interesting to know.
The characters were also pretty good. They weren't boring at all especially Altair. He's pretty funny and made me laugh and roll my eyes a few times and I loved Benyamin! he's so wise and his words soothed my heart. I have massive respect for this guy. He's my favorite character in this book. But the main characters, Zafira and Nasir, I don't know what to say about them. Zafira didn't annoy me but she's also not my favorite character. She's just ... fine. On the other hand, Nasir quite annoyed me. Look, I feel sorry for him but most of the time when I read his POV, I felt annoyed. I both understood and didn't understand him. Does that even make sense?
there's romance in this book. To my delight, it was slow burn and enemies to lovers kind of romance. YAY! but to my disappointment, the romance wasn't as good as I thought. It lacked romance spark or intensity or whatever it was that could make me squeal or melt my icy heart. I initially thought that there was a love triangle but thankfully it's not. So if you're like me, that you avoid books that have a love triangle, then don't worry! it may seemed that way, but I don't think it is.
I liked this book but not enough to want to continue reading the sequel. Thank you for reading and liking this review. I appreciate so much and hope you all have an amazing day!

Finally. That was the first word that I uttered after I finished reading this book because I finally finished reading it! and I also want to admit that I skimmed reading it a little bit when I nearly reached the end of the book because I just couldn't wait to finish reading it. But don't get me wrong, the book wasn't terrible. It was fine. Pretty good but there were also some things that I didn't really like and I also read this book for nearly a month and I just wanted to read something else. That's also the reason I skimmed reading it.
So, I don't really know why it took me such a long time to finish reading it but every time I read this book, I just couldn't be focused. I got distracted easily and then I got sleepy after I read it for a few minutes and then I fell asleep. The book wasn't boring but ... it wasn't really good either for me. It was fine.
The plot was good and despite getting easily distracted or sleepy frequently when I read it, I was actually curious about what would happen next and the ending. It wasn't boring, it was a pretty fun book to read and I also enjoyed reading the technology in this book! it was amazing. I was so excited to read it at first and I was still excited for a week or so but then later on, I suddenly felt not that excited anymore and I don't know why! it just happened. Oh and about the references in this book, I didn't understand most of them but I still could understand the plot and everything, even though I didn't understand most of the references and I still could pretty much enjoyed reading the book and about the characters, to be honest, I don't know what to talk about the characters. They weren't boring but they weren't ... fascinating or really interesting either ( except Aech because I liked this character and this character made me smile a lot! ).
I would enjoy this book a lot more, if it didn't have romance but there was a romance in this book. Well, it certainly was not much but I didn't like it at all! I wish there were no romance at all and I'm sure I would enjoy it a lot more. in my opinion, the romance was boring, lack of connection or romance spark. It was just so freaking boring and I found myself rolling my eyes. The romance was not good or interesting for me. I just didn't feel anything toward the romance except annoyance and disappointment.
Overall, this book was fine and I didn't regret reading it because there were times when I felt so excited to read it and it was also not purely bad and it wasn't boring. It was just not interesting and good enough for me but it was a fine read.

THE REVIEW IS POSTED NOW
My Opinion
I'm a fan of science fiction so when I saw this book in the bookstore, I immediately bought a copy because this book had been in my " want to read " list for over a month and I also loved the cover. but I'm a little bit disappointed in reading this book because I'm a slow reader so it always takes me 5 - 10 days to finish a book and I felt like I kind of wasted my time in reading this book. all those nights I spent reading this book was wasted in the end. I did enjoy this book at first but I still feel like I just wasted my time in reading it.
when I finish this book, I sighed and and that sigh has two meaning, the first meaning was that I was very very glad that I finally could finish it and the second meaning was that I hated myself for setting my expectations too high before I read this book because in the end, this book didn't live up my expectations.like at all.
The Plot
the plot of this book seemed very interesting to me at first and I did enjoy this book at first but when I reached half of the book or so, I felt bored. I didn't feel interested to read it anymore. in fact, I even thought to not finish this book because it was freaking boring, but I didn't do it because I didn't like thought of wasting money I spent for this book, but I skimmed reading this book. I just wanted it to be over, okay? oh and the plot was also predictable. Thankfully, I understood what the book was about because if the book even confused me then I would not finish it for sure and I also won't read the second book. I already lost the interest to read it.
The Romance
I can't say much about the romance because I felt nothing toward the romance. the romance was just plain and boring. I didn't feel connected to the romance. not even a little bit. I literally have nothing to say about the romance.
The Characters
the main characters in this book, who are Noemi and Abel, they were just plain and how many times have I said plain on this review, by the way? but yeah, they were plain and boring characters, even from the beginning of the story, I even felt they were plain, ( I hadn't felt they were boring at first, though) but that time I felt curious about the plot and I also liked it, so I didn't really mind about the these plain characters but day by day, I didn't feel curious anymore and I began not enjoying the plot and that's when I thought to not finish this book. I didn't enjoy the plot anymore, the characters were plain and they were also boring, the romance was boring, so how could I not to think to not finish this book?
The only character I cared was Virginia. SHE WAS SO COOL AND SMART AND FUNNY! She's one of the secondary characters and to be honest, she was even more interesting than Noemi. That's all. The only one character I cared about in this book was only Virginia, because the main characters were plain and boring.
so I gave this book 3 stars because I enjoyed half of the book before I felt that the plot was predictable and not interesting enough anymore and it's also because how cool Virginia was.
to be honest, I don't feel like I want to recommend this book but if you are interested in reading this book, then read it! don't let my review stop you from reading it, because who knows? maybe you'll like or maybe you don't.
thank you very much for reading and liking this review, guys! I hope you all have an amazing day! bye!

this book had been sitting on my shelf for months (I don't exactly remember when I ordered it)REVIEW TO COME TODAY.
*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MILD SPOILER*
this book had been sitting on my shelf for months (I don't exactly remember when I ordered it) but I do remember after it arrived at my home, I didn't instantly read it because I wasn't in the mood to read this book and I was also afraid because that time I had high expectation for this book, so I decided not to read it that time and the time I was in the mood for reading it came few weeks ago and my expectation was not high anymore so I thought I would enjoy it and I was right, I enjoyed it but I found something that prevent me to give this book 4 stars and these are the reasons why I gave this book 3 stars :
The Characters
the only character I liked was Millard Nullings because he could make me smile and laugh and I really really liked him but he was just the only one and the rest of the characters were plain and boring. I don't even know why I didn't feel connected to Jacob or Emma or anyone and I was also having a hard time to remember all the characters names and In the end I still didn't remember their names. The only names I remember are few, those are :
- Millard ( obviously because I liked him so much ) - Jacob ( he's the main character so yeah I still could remember him very well ) - Miss Peregrine - Emma ( this girl was quite annoying, so it was easy to remember her ) - Dr. Golan
I think that's all ... and I tried to remember all the characters especially all the peculiars but I somehow just couldn't remember them but basically the main problem was just I couldn't connect to any of the characters ( except Millard ).
The Romance
I didn't like the romance at all, I felt the romance was like forced to happen and it was also ... weird. I mean how could Jacob kiss Emma?! she used to have special relationship with Abe and Abe was Jacob's grandfather and there was this scene where Miss Peregrine said
"When Abraham left to fight in the war, he took all our hearts with him, but Miss Bloom's especially. Yes, they were admirers, paramours, sweethearts."
and Jacob already knew that Emma used to have special relationship but that didn't stop him from liking her. it's okay if he liked her in just friend way but he didn't like Emma that way and Emma also liked him. isn't that weird for Emma and Jacob? I know Emma should move on but not with Abe's grandchild! that's ... it just doesn't seem right in my opinion and this romance was kind of Insta-Love and Insta-Love was one of my bookish pet peeves and there was one scene that made me very very uncomfortable.
And then we were kissing. The profoundness of our lips touching and our tongues pressing and my hand cupping her perfect white cheek barred any thoughts of right or wrong or any memory of why I had followed her there in the first place. ...
at this scene I was like
[image]
and the only thing that made me give this book 3 stars was only
The Plot/The Story
just like I said my expectation was low when I finally read this book and I think the story or the plot was better than my expectation so I quite enjoyed it but there were too much talking and not enough action scenes and I even skimmed reading it when I was about to reach the end of the book because it was boring but I still managed to understand the ending and this was the only thing that made me give this book 3 stars and well maybe there was also a little bit extra star because I liked Millard but I don't think I'll read the sequel because I just don't really care about this story anymore.
thank you guys for reading and liking this review. I hope you all have a great day! *hugs*

two corporations are at a war over a planet covered by ice, it's called Kerenza IV. This corporation decides to invade Kerenza and kill all the people who lives there. But it mission doesn't entirely sucess and there are thousand of people who survive the attack and they are in 3 spaceships, ALEXANDER - 78V , HYPATIA and COPERNICUS. Their destination is the nearest jump station, Heimdall and it takes months to arrive. The Lincoln ( one of the enemy spaceships) chases those spaceships to kill all the witnesses of Kerenza attack. But The Lincoln is the least of their problems because there is a mutating virus that will kill them all before reaching Heimdall.
So, the questions are will they survive? what's the name of the enemy corporation? what kind of virus it that? what is the name of the virus? and what will hapen if someone gets infected by this virus? I'm sure you guys are thinking about those questions but I'm not gonna tell you the answers you have to read the book to know the answers of those questions :p
MY OPINION
*phew* I'm finally writing this review because I've been very busy since 25th July, which was the first day of my last year in high school. So guys maybe I won't be as active as I used to be on Goodreads because of school but I still check GR once a day, So I'm so sorry when I haven't replied your comments or messages but I promise I will reply them as fast as I could. :) okay, now let's talk about this book. [image]
This book was so unique and the hardcover of this book is so F***ing BEAUTIFUL!! the papers are thick and the COVER!!! I even brought it to school once because I wanted to show how beautiful this book was to my friends but they all stared at me like I was crazy because this book was thickier than our school books.
the first time I saw this book in a bookstore I was like " OH MY GOD.OH MY GOD.OH MY GOD!!!! *hyperventilates*" I bought this book immediately and when I arrived at home I was like "shit. I should have read the blurb of this book, what if I don't like it?? shit. shit" but thankfully, this book wasn't bad, it was really good actually. the format of this was SOOO great and I enjoyed it so much. but you must be wondering why did i give this book 3.8 stars, right? I'll tell you that later but this was what I thought before reading it : Epic Story + Sweet Romance + No Love Triangle + Slow Burn Romance + Awesome Main Characters but this was what I got after reading it : Epic Story + Funny + Not So Great Main Characters + Boring Romance + No Love Triangle + The romance was already there so it's clearly not slow burn romance or insta-love. Just don't know what to call it. + Awesome Secondary Character.
Now! I'm going to tell you why I gave it 3.8 Stars!
Boring Romance
the romance was already there because Kady and Ezra were brokeup but they still loved each other and it wasn't such a surprise when they were be a couple again. is it just me who didn't like the romance? tell me on the comment below :D
Ezra wasn't a bad character but I still don't know why I can't love Ezra, but I cried so much when he... you know "that scene". I just couldn't feel the romance and I didn't even know who Ezra was and what did he do that made Kady loved him?? I much prefer reading a book with both of the main characters don't know each other and then they start getting to know each other and like each other and finally love each other because I almost always can feel this kind of romance and know the male character as well. So when Kady loved Ezra I was like " wait.. what!?!?! you love him? how could you love him? I don't even know him so I don't love him." [image]
Awesome Secondary Character
the secondary character of this book was so AWESOME!! I loved Jamie so much! I just knew him and that scene when he was holding a little was so sweet. he's even better than Ezra! Ezra was nothing compared to him. oops sorry guys. he's so funny and made me laughing so many times! I can't even count them. I WANT THIS KIND OF GUY IN MY LIFE!! ❤❤❤ (view spoiler)[but you know what will happen when you love characters so much, don't you? YUP THEY DIED THEY FUCKING DIED AND THEY LEFT US CRYING FOR DAYS. WHY DID HE HAVE TO BE THE ONE WHO DIED?!?! WHY!?! IT IS NOT FAIR!!!!! [image] (hide spoiler)]
so those are the reasons why I gave this book 3.8 Stars but now I'm going to tell you what I liked about this book.
The Story And The Pacing
To be honest this was one of the reasons I gave this book 3.8 stars, the other one was Jamie. I loved him so much so yeah, I'm going to give extra stars for this book. I liked this book very much! the story was so original! the authors of this book are genius!! *claps hand* [image] The pacing of this book was fast! I'm a slow reader and I was shocked when I read 100 pages because usually I only can read 60 or 70 pages. So if you are a slow reader like me then I recommend you to read this book. this book is so fast, you won't even realize that you already read 100 pages and the format is so unique. it won't bored you. I didnt feel bored at all while reading it. But I recommend this book to everyone!! if you're a fast reader, I think you might finish it in 2 or so or maybe a day! because it's really fast!
Will I Read The Sequel hmm, I still don't know whether to read the second book or not because in my opinion liking the main characters are as importand as liking the story and I didn't really like the main characters. the romance was boring too, So I haven't decided whether to read the second book or not. *shrugs* [image] I just read the synopsis of Gemina! and there are new main characters!! YAY!! OMG!! I WANT TO DANCE AROUND MY ROOM NOW! I'LL READ THE SECOND BOOK!!!
Thank you, guys for reading my review and thank you so much for liking this review!! enjoy your weekend, guys!! ❤❤❤ [image]...more

"Roses have both petals and thorns, my dark flower. You needn't believe something weak because it appears deli- cate. Show the world your bravery."
Wow. I'm so freaking disappointed with this book. Look, I didn't even have high expectation toward the book, because I know my expectations toward books often don't end up well. So I might as well not to expect anything, but the things is, it's really hard not to expect anything when this book sounded so good and oh my God, the cover's so pretty! and yeah, I expected good things from this book. But the book didn't meet my not-so-high-expectation.
so here are the problems I have with this book.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth
I could not feel any connection between me and her. Like at all. In my opinion, she was just so boring and flat character. Oh and she annoyed me too. Am I missing out something or is she just an annoying person? she felt responsible for something that wasn't her fault.
Somehow, some way, I was responsible for this man's death.
So if I could talk to her directly I would say, " Are you kidding me? how can you responsible for that man's death? that is not your responsibility, Audrey Rose. That is the killer's responsibility. That's the killer's fault." that also made me think, if I accidently fell from the staircase or slipped on the floor, would she feel responsible for not saving me or preventing it from happening? I don't know whether I'm missing out something about this or she's just an annoying person.
The Romance
Honestly, I don't know what to say about about the romance besides boring and lack of the that romance spark. In my opinion, the romance was rushed and it made me think like " Wait ... what is happening?!?" when they were about to kiss. I'm not saying it's insta love, because in my opinion, it's certainly not an insta love, but the romance happened too fast and it was rushed. I think, I would like this book more, if the romance took longer or maybe no romance at all, because I could not feel the romance or the spark between them. The romance was like ... plain. Too fast. Boring. Meh. Bleh. Oh and the love interest was boring and I did not like him or felt any attraction toward him.
The Plot
IT WAS PREDICTABLE. When I read books, most of the time my theories are wrong or I can't predict at all, But it's different with this book. I could find out who the killer was before even reaching 100 pages and when I read the ending, I was like " HAHAHAHAHAHA IT WAS SO PREDICTABLE. I KNEW IT ALL ALONG."
Most of the time when I read the book, I was either bored or falling asleep. I swear, I had a hard time reading this book. The feeling I get when I read my textbook is mutual to the feeling I felt while reading it. B O R E D. and I laughed once while reading it and that's it. I didn't laugh anymore and the story bored me. I had no interest in reading it. Oh and I skimmed reading this book, because I just didn't want to spend more days to read it. I'd rather read something else than reading it. But, I admit the ending was good. Honestly, it was even better than the whole story. Or maybe I felt this way because I was relieved that I finally finished reading it?
this book didn't work for me. it just wasn't for me, I guess.
-------------------------------------------
REVIEW TO COME TOMORROW. All I can say now is that I could predict the killer easily. 😑 -------------------------------------------- So, I've heard so many things about this book and mostly they're good things and I'm pretty curious about this book. I hope it's not a disappointing book! *cross fingers* ...more

REMOVE THE TIN WOODMAN'S HEART STEAL THE SCARECROW'S BRAIN TAKE THE LION'S COURAGE AND THEN DOROTHY MUST DIE
Once upon a time, There was a pink-haired girl named Amy Gumm. She lived in a trailer park with her mother. Her father left her and her mother behind to live with a woman named Crystal. When Amy turned 13 years old her mother had a car accident and started taking pills and this was the time her life was changed completely. Her mother wasn't a sweet mother anymore, she did not make breakfast or dinner anymore and she often went to bar, she cared her pet rat and didn't care about Amy. So Amy, she had to take care herself and her mother. One day, there was a tornado and transported her and her pet rat to Oz. But Oz was different. Dorothy found a way to come back to Oz and she had a taste of magic. She turned wicked and all of her friends were wicked and Amy's adventure was began.
My Opinion
when we talk about Oz I'm sure you would be thinking like this Oz [image] But this book is very different from that Oz. This Oz is very dark and corrupted and I liked this book, the story was good and I liked the writing style too.
the first day I read this book I was so excited and the pacing was pretty fast but it all changed when I reached chapter 30. I don't know why but it got slow and it bored me so much. I even thought to DNF it but I ws already on chapter 30 so I had to make myself to finish it *sighs* [image]
the most thing I didn't like about this book apart from the pace was the relationship between the MC and the people around her. is it just me or this book doesn't describe the friendship between Amy and the people around her??? seriously, I felt nothing. when the first time I knew this book was a retelling from The Wizard Of Oz. I was so excited because I thought there would be an amazing friendship between the MC and her friends. while reading it I felt like this book was just focused on the how to kill dorothy and forgot to describe about the friendship. In my opinion the friendship between the MC and the people around her/his is as important as the story.
The Romance thankfully there's no love triangle in this book. . The romance in this book is so weird. at the beginning of the story they hate each other and all of a sudden they love each other. the romance in this book was is confused me, the MC and the love-interest (Nox) don't talk much and all of a sudden he kisses her. it is weird they don't even talk much and then fall in love??? if there were a guy kissed me suddenly, I would definitely punch him. but Amy, I think she looks happy. [image]
Will I continue reading this series? [image]

On a beautiful and sunny day, there was a girl sit on a bench. Her best friend who walked by saw her and she approached her to say hi
Me : *sits on a bench with gloomy demeanor*
My best friend : Hey! ... I wanted to ask you about how your day is but ... I thought better of it.
My best friend : *sits on a bench beside me*
My best friend : Is there something you want to tell me?
Me : *takes a deep breath and shows this book*
Me : Yes, there is. This book is the reason why I'm in such a bad mood. So before I read this book, I had these huge expectations toward the book because it would be my first time reading a book about pirates.
My best friend : you know what? I'm beginning to think that your expectations rarely end well.
Me : yeah, but I couldn't help to expect great things about this book. The synopsis sounded like something I would love AND THERE WAS ALSO SLOW BURN ROMANCE AND ENEMY TO LOVER TROPE.
My best friend : slow burn romance and enemy to lover? WOW. sounds interesting.
Me : yeah, wait till you hear what I think and you probably want to stay away from this book. *snorts*
Me : So when I began reading this book, I thought I would get many actions scenes and at first, I did like the book because I was curious and I was waiting for more action scenes and then I also had a problem with the pacing of the book. I really like reading slow-paced books but the pacing in this book was so fucking slow and lack of action scenes, but there several were action scenes nearing the ending of the book but I already lost my interest in reading it when those actions scenes happened and I admit that I skimmed reading the book because IT WAS SO FUCKING BORING AND I WAS SO FUCKING BORED AND I COULD RIP THE BOOK.
Me : And there was this fucking boring romance. It's enemy to lover but it didn't feel that way for me. Yeah, the main character and her love interest argued and bickered but I honestly don't know when they began developing feelings for each other but then the romance happened and I was so freaking confused, like " what the hell is going on?" and then the romance also lacked that romance spark and heat when it happened. I honestly don't understand about the romance. All of the characters seemed one dimensional characters for me, including Alosa and her love interest.
My best friend : Okay, that book doesn't sound appealing to me anymore. I would rather read something else than that book. Hey, let's just watch a movie at my house!
Me : Now, that sounds interesting!
Me : *throws the book away*
The two girls left, hand by hand and they were excited to watch a movie together and about the book? well, Reynita couldn't care less about what would happen to the book and she would never miss the book.

REVIEW TO COME SOON.
" It is not fate, it is simply the future observing that which we crave the most. Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything."
I still can't believe I DNF this book. I was so happy when I started reading it because this book sounded so good! and I thought this book would be ... magical. but this book disappointed me so much and thank God, I bought a paperback not a hardcover because if that time I bought the hardcover instead of paperback then I would waste much money on this book.
To be honest my greatest weakness is books with gorgeous cover so yeah, the first reason I bought it because it looked so great! but the story wasn't even as good as the cover. not even close and I tried my best not to set my expectation too high but I failed and my expectation was too high.
I thought this book would make me fee like this
[image]
or this
[image]
but all I got was NOTHING and basically this was what I felt
[image]
now these are the reasons I didn't finish this book
The Romance
this is one of main reasons I didn't finish this book. it's INSTA FUCKING LOVE and insta love is one of my bookish pet peeves. I thought Julian and Scarlett would get to know each other first and then after that the romance would begin but IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT. The romance confused me. One time Scarlett didn't like Julian and she even left her room to ask for another room because she didn't want to sleep on the same bed as Julian. that happens in page 108 and then this was what I found on page 144
Scarlett and Julian were closer to the kissing tent now. Perfume wafted from it. It smelled like the middle of the night, making Scarlett think of soft lips and strong hands, dark stubble brushing her cheek that reminded her entirely too much of Julian.
This girl is so crazy! she didn't want to sleep on the same bed as Julian even though Julian already promised her that he wouldn't touch her and then she thought like that!?! WHAAAAATTTT!?!
And then I didn't like the romance because there was a scene between Julian and Tella ( Scarlett's sister) and they looked really really close in this scene.
''But it was the sight of the young sailor, with his hands wrapped around Tella's waist, that made Scarlett stutter, ''Did I interrupt something?''
I know that Julian just used Tella and Tella also used him but I just didn't like this scene. every time Scarlett was close to Julian or even just thought him, my mind always replayed this scene and it made me feel really uncomfortable. was I the only one who felt like this? or was there anyone who also felt just like me?
The Characters
I couldn't feel connected to anyone. All the characters seemed plain to me and I didn't feel anything to any of them but the most annoying character is Scarlett, I just couldn't connect with her and I don't think I ever will. She made me question her love to her sister, she seemed love her so much and she worried Tella so much but there was this scene where she was given two questions but then she didn't ask about her sister. SHE ASKED ABOUT WHAT SORT OF MAN SHE IS GOING TO MARRY?!?!
this girl gave me headache
[image]
I know she must be concerned about her groom as well but really!? her sister was kidnapped and she was freaking worried about her all the time and then she had this opportunity to ask about her sister but she just wasted this opportunity. I felt like I wanted to slap her.
The Story
there was a time when I quite enjoyed it but most of the time the story bored me and I didn't expect the story would be this boring. I know I should have kept reading it to find out whether it's still boring or not but I just can't continue reading it anymore. this book just didn't work for me.
thank you so much for reading and liking my review and I hope you all have a great weekend! ❤❤
I think I'll read it again because I enjoyed the first book and something happened in the second book that shocked me and made me stop reading it. Bu I think I'll read it again because I enjoyed the first book and something happened in the second book that shocked me and made me stop reading it. But maybe I was exaggerating that problem. So I'll read it again on 2017.
REVIEW TO COME TODAY.
** THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MILD SPOILER **
"I do not know why you two are circling each other like stars. it is not my cosmic dance. But I do know that you come asking after one another, when only a few strides and a handful of stairs divide you."
the first time I read this book was a year ago ( I guess it was a year ago ) and I didn't finish it because of something(view spoiler)[ that scene when Alucard kissed Lila and Lila kissed him back and she actually enjoyed the kiss. (hide spoiler)] but then a month ago I decided to read it again because I liked the first book so much ( here's my review about the first book) and maybe I could bear that scene because I've read quite many book since I stopped reading this book. So maybe I could tolerate that scene.
so here are the reasons why I didn't like this book :
The Story
in my opinion the story was so boriiiiiiiiiiiing especially the Element Games. it bored me so much ( it is not a spoiler because the synopsis tells you about this ). I don't know why I didn't like the Element Games and I just didn't care about it so every time the main characters talked about it, which was very often and I was like [image]
I mean, the first book was so great and the action scenes were so AAAAAMZING and I had high expectation about this book but I didn't get what I wanted. The main characters talked so much and I desperately needed of action scenes. I NEED FIGHT SCENES. JUST ANYTHING EXCEPT TALKING. TALKING AND TALKING and to be honest, I skimmed reading it and I rarely do that. I just do that when the book is boring and I want to read it quickly so it can be over and I just wanted to finish reading it.
The Pacing
I love slow pacing books because that way I can get to know the characters but this book is SO SLOW and it bored me so much. I made myself to continue reading it and even when I reached page 297, the Element Games still hadn't started and I began skimmed it because I just couldn't wait anymore and I just wanted to finish it as fast as possible. So I don't know what page the Element Games is started and we suppose to feel relax and happy when we read, don't we? and mostly I felt like this when I read this book
[image]
I just couldn't be patient. I just couldn't.
The Characters
I didn't like Lila, she was really annoying. she would do everything just to get what she wanted. I didn't have a problem if she didn't hurt anybody to get what she wanted. I don't think I felt like that toward Lila when I read the first book and how could Kell like a girl like her?! honestly, he is too good for Lila. ugh.
and now about Rhy and Alucard. I don't have problem with them and Rhy is a funny guy.
"Fine," said Rhy. "I'm going out. And when I'm robbed and left in an alley, you can tell our parents what happened. Don't forget to include the part where you stayed home instead of ensuring my safety."
and also this
Rhy leaned over. "looks like I'm not the one who needs protecting after all. You know ..." He sipped his wine. "it would be an interesting match...." Kell kept his smile fixed. "I will stab you with this pin." "You would suffer." "it would be worth-" He was cut off by the approach of Lord Sol-in-Ar.
I just love it when they bicker xD
The Romance
The romance was so boring. I kept wanting them to be together again but it took them such a long time to get together again. they got together again when I lost my interest in reading this book. ( I don't think it's a spoiler because if you've read the first book then you know that Lila left Kell and Kell saw she was leaving and she was gone to her own her) there was a time when my heart pounded so hard because I was so nervous when they were about to meet but they didn't meet instantly and I got bored and I lost my interest. (view spoiler)[ I skimmed reading it so I think I missed something about this book and I also heard that the romance between Alucard and Rhy is cute and they are cute but I don't think I can say anything about them because I skimmed reading it so I didn't read the part where they met. but I think Rhy and Alucard will be cute couple. They both are funny. (hide spoiler)]
Will I Read The Next Book?
I don't know. I don't think I'll read the next book because I'm not curious how the story ends and I don't really care about it anymore. I only gave this book 3 stars because I quite enjoyed reading it at the beginning and I used to like Kell so much and there was also a scene that I really liked.

REVIEW TO COME TOMORROW
Kaz leaned back. "what's the easiest way to steal a man's wallet?" "Knife to the throat?" asked Inej. "Gun to the back?" said Jesper. "Poison in his cup?" sugessted Nina. "You're all horrible," said Matthias.
I'm supposed to write this review tomorrow but I have free time today so why not? I reread this book because the first time I read it I didn't really enjoy it and then I saw the cover of the second book, it's SOOOOO pretty, so I bought it but I didn't really remember what happened in the first book so I reread it and I also reread just in case I was missing something and I really hoped I would like it more the second time I read it but in the end I still don't really like it. I enjoyed it much better than the first time I read it, though.
okay, here are the reasons why I didn't really like it :
The Characters
in my opinion all the characters were flat and I was confused while reading it. sometimes I liked Kaz more than Matthias and sometimes I liked Matthias more than Kaz. [image]
guess who my heart desired at the end? NO ONE
I love cold-hearted boys, but Kaz was beyond cold-hearted. He scared me. and Matthias, I don't know why I didn't really like him. I just didn't feel connected to him and when Matthias said something romantic to Nina, I found myself didn't affected to those words. My face was still straight and I didn't feel anything. [image] but I do have characters that I liked, they are Jesper and Wyland. they both were really cute when they were bickering and most of the time I laughed because of them.
The Romance
in my opinion the romance between Inej and Kaz was quite annoying because Kaz was too shy (?) he didn't really say what he wanted to say to Inej. I know it must be very hard to say things you want to your crush but come on! they have known each other for ... I don't know. a year or two years maybe? I forget. [image] so the romance between Kaz and Inej irked me so much and on the other hand the romance between Matthias and Nina was a little bit better. just a little bit and at least they could make me laugh.
So the reason I gave this book 3,5 stars because I liked the Plot, The Story and some of the characters and I think this book is just not my cup of tea but I already bought the second book and I don't know should I read it? I really hate wasting money but if the second book doesn't get better than what's the point of reading it? it's also thick and probably takes quite long time to read and I also want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! I hope 2017 will be filled with amazing books, laughter, happiness, love and friendships.
These 6 dangerous outcasts have an impossible mission that can make them very very rich. But if they failed, They wouldn't just lose the money but the would be dead as well. Maybe the mission would be a little bit easier if they were all friends but the truth is there are 2 persons who hate each other and the world's fate is in these 6 persons's hands
You must be wondering why I gave this book 3.8 stars while other people gave it 5 or 4 stars, right?
This book is great and I know why almost everyone loves it. This book has so many great action scenes and made my heart pound but I love reading slow burning romance but it's too slow. I don't know what is wrong with me because I didn't feel anything to all characters (maybe I had a little bit feelings to Matthias but I wasn't sure about it either *shrugs*) but I still laughed at them sometimes and I enjoyed reading it until chapter 27.
but I don't want to judge this book because there's nothing wrong with it, The problem is just in myself. I love reading books with 50% of action and 50% of romance and what I got from this book was 90% of action and 10% of romance, But I still quite enjoyed reading it. Until the ending I didn't know who I liked in this book and I didn't feel the romance( I still don't ).
in my opinion all the characters are just... a little bit boring, Maybe I had a little bit feelings to Matthias but it's already gone now. *sighs* (sorry for saying this guys) when I read this book, I just felt like this was a book because usually everytime I read books I don't feel like I'm just reading a book, I feel like I'm traveling to another worlds. Nina and Matthias are already know each other from the first page and I didn't like that because it always feels strange to me if the girl already falls in love with the guy and she ends up telling us about her journey with the guy, it's always make me feel like I don't know the guy and I end up don't know my feelings to the guy or maybe I feel nothing to the guy.
But I still had a good time with this book and I don't really regret reading it but I don't think I'll read the second book, [image].

But to keep her sister safe isn't easy and this mission cause her to meet an twenty years old man named Gryphon, A fearless and Strongest soldier among other soldiers. The Romance
Ugh... This is why I don't want to read love triangle. there is a guy named Gabe and he is Zo's childhood friend but Gabe falls in love with Zo and seriously, I don't know whether she loves Gabe or she just thinks that Gabe is only " Friend " because when I read chapter...??? I even forget the chapter that I want to talk about, let me just tell you. she let Gabe kissed her cheek and held her waist and she didn't mind at all.

God.. I don't want to read books like this again, I would be really really careful next time.
now, I'm going to talk about Gryphon and Zo. I completely don't know about the romance between Gryphon and Zo because when I read chapter 36 or 38, zo still didn't trust him!!! after what he's done for her, she still betrayed him!!!
is it too hard to trust someone that risk his life for you!?!?!
(view spoiler)[after she found out that Gabe was still alive she was very very angry toward Gryphon and that time I seriously wanted to punch her because she should be grateful that Gryphon spared her "childhood" friend's life!!! and I was like " WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ZO ?!?!?! " [image] (hide spoiler)]
yes it's slow burning love but this is TOO SLOW TOO SLOW
why did I give this book 3.3 stars if I disliked this book?
I still quite enjoyed this book because the Action scenes were all good but I was starving of Romance scenes and I just can't make myself likes Gryphon, he's a good man but I don't know why...I don't really like him but he made me swoon once so I think he's fine for this book and Joshua he's a good kid and I secretly wished that he would be Tess's boyfried when they grow up hahaha xD but the biggest problem is Zo because I hate her so so much. this book disappointed me, I kept reading it because I thought there would be romance scenes on the middle part of the book, But I get NOTHING
Will I read the sequel??

Do I recommend this book to you?
umm, if you like reading books with overload action scenes and don't really like reading romance then you're gonna love this book.
Thank you very much for reading my review about this book!! have a great day, guys!!! *blows kiss to you guys*
this is the last book of Starbound series and honestly, I'm still a little bit confused about this series especially about the whispers, I j3.6 Stars
this is the last book of Starbound series and honestly, I'm still a little bit confused about this series especially about the whispers, I just can't process it all in my brain and it confused me so much... and I'm very happy that I could finish this series and I got bored reading this around chapter 30.

The Characters
Sofia Sofia is an orphan and(view spoiler)[her father died because of Roderic LaRoux (hide spoiler)] and now all she wants is to kill him because he took everything she loved. at the beginning of the story I liked her but she got a little bit annoying at the middle of the book.
Gideon Gideon is a hacker and he wants to destroy LRI. (view spoiler)[ he wants to destroy LRI because his brother was killed because of Roderic LaRoux (hide spoiler)] he's really funny and he made me laugh so much, I liked him at the beggining of the story but he disappointed me because all he cared about was only how to save her (she's not Sofia.). (view spoiler)[I know his brother, Simon loved Lilac before and he wanted to save her because he thought his brother would've done it too but seriously you risked your life for Lilac and you kind of forgot your girl (hide spoiler)]
I was happy when all the 6 characters(Tarver, Lilac, Jubilee, Flynn, Gideon and Sofia) worked together to destroy LRI. but after I read the second and the third book, I felt Lilac was kind of annoying and seriously I didn't care whether she would be alive or not in this book, and all she did was crying and it frustrated me and she always needed Tarver to protect and comfort her all the time!! Jubilee's life and Sofia's life are harder than her life but they're not a crybaby!!! all I wanted her to do was STOP CRYING AND BE TOUGH!!! WAS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR!?!?!? [image]
Romance
I actually liked the romace because it's slow burning love and there're no love triangle in this book or in this series but when I reached chapter 20 I got confused because they didn't even trust each other but they kept kissing and kissing. I thought this book would be great because this is the last book of Starbound series but I wronged and I'm very very disappointed with this series. The second book, This Shattered World is better than the first and the third book.

this book disappointed me so much but I didn't completely hate it because I loved the second book and at least I could enjoy this book at the beggining. it always happens to me when I read books/series about Aliens, maybe books/series with aliens aren't my cup of tea...
thanks for reading my review, guys!! have a nice day!!
