What a pleasant surprise! Frankly speaking, I was pretty hesitant when I started reading this book. It was mostly because of the pages of the book. Lol. It’s thick and thick books usually make me nervous. However, as I delved into this book, it was very fascinating. I still do not understand about the map though and when the characters talked about “dial”, I honestly did not understand even though I tried to comprehend the map, but it’s just puzzling. Nevertheless, I understood the plot. I didn’t have any expectation reading the book. I didn’t even know what the book was about. It’s probably why I enjoyed it. It was such a surprise read! The plot was original. Unlike anything I have ever read before. Truly fascinating. The author is brilliant to come up with such ideas and plot. As much as I liked reading the plot, I didn’t really develop any attachment toward the characters. It’s not that they were boring. In fact, they were unique and their internal thoughts were also complex. But, I somehow didn’t fully “connect” with them. Maybe it’s because I read it for too long? Nevertheless, the characters were not annoying and dull. If you haven’t read this book, I recommend you to read it. It was a slow-paced book. But it was worth it. My Opinion Time! The first time I saw this book, I was captivated by the cover. It was so amazing and it looked eerie and mysterious. After that I also was curious about the book itself because the plot sounded good and something that I would probably love and it's science fiction! one of my favorite genres and I also heard many great things about it, more reasons for me to read the book! [image] This book was pretty good and it was also funny and action-packed. I love it so much when books manage to make me laugh and I laughed several times while reading this book, a good sign indeed. But I couldn't give it a solid 4 stars or more because while I liked the book, I didn't enjoy it immensely. Like the book could be tedious sometimes. I knew I was bored sometimes, but I kept reading it because the plot of the book was pretty fascinating, even though it could be tedious sometimes but that was not a hindrance for me to keep reading it. To be honest, I initially thought that I wouldn't continue with the series, but I changed my mind and I definitely will read the sequels! even though I didn't love this book, it was still a fun read. The Plot The plot was fascinating and I liked it. It was unique and the technology in the book was also cool as well. This book reminded me why I love science fiction very much. But while the plot was fascinating, I also found a problem about it. The pacing of the book was slow and while I didn't complain about it, it could be pretty boring. Things did happen, but still I still found myself quite bored by the book but the plot got better! thankfully. And I my curiosity increased and my heart pounded fast and I felt like I couldn't read it fast enough. The book was action-packed and it was also funny! I laughed and grinned and rolled my eyes several times. I'm so glad I didn't stop reading the book when I was confused in the beginning because the more I read it, the more I understood the story and the technology. I indeed had a pretty good time reading the book. The Characters OH MY GOD. I RELLY LOVE DOOMSLUG. She's so cute and Doomslug is a cute creature. She imitated voices and she's just so cute. Every time she spoke I was like " awwwww " damn, I really liked this creature. I should've talked about Spensa or the other characters first but I talked about Doomslug first, so that definitely said something. [image] And M-Bot! he's also funny and weird. Most of the time, he was the reason I laughed. He's just so unique. And about Spensa, honestly I'm so conflicted every time I think about her. She was incredibly brave, determined and a fierce character. I adored her and I also loved how ambitious and determined she was but there were also times that I just disagreed with the way she way she thought and acted. She could be rude sometimes, but that made her more realistic, I guess. But still, there were times that I just didn't agree with her. The friendship in this book was also sweet and heartwarming! I have friends in my real life and I also like them but the friendship in this book was like the other level of the friendship I have in my life. The friendship was heartwarming and strong and I really loved getting to know Spensa's friends! Spensa's really lucky to have them, I wish I had friends like them. Wow. I haven't been moved by a book since ... I don't know ... months ago probably. This book was breathtaking. It was incredibly beautiful and so different than what I have ever read. What a fresh breath of air! and I even bought another copy of this book for my friend's birthday present and I had given it to her yesterday and when her face lit up with delight and I felt my heart was bursting with happiness because she liked it that I gave her this book. I was just so enthralled by this book that I wanted my friend to also read it. YES, the book was THAT good I laughed. I giggled. I grinned. I cursed. I cried. This book made me feel a lot of emotions. IT IS LITERALLY THE BEST FEELING when you read a book and even the quotations in this book were beautiful. Wow. Now, I'm going to tell you in detail what I loved from this book. The Plot THE PLOT WAS SO GOOD *screams* It was so different that what I have ever read. So in this book there are grimoires. These are the books that can whisper, move and they can even transform into a monster, malefict, if they are provoked with a damage. SOUNDS SO AWESOME, doesn't it? and I would say that the pacing in this book was slow but not the kind of slow that made you want to throw the book. It was the perfect kind of slowness. It wasn't rushed and the book took time to explain things. I swear this book is such a fresh breath of air. The world in the book was so mesmerizing and I honestly don't know how many times I have whispered to myself that I wanted to live in the world of this book so bad. [image] I admit I didn't love the book instantly from the start but I kept reading it because I don't know why this book was just so intriguing and I wanted to keep reading it and I eventually fell in love with the book and the characters. It was inevitable for me to not fall in love with this book when it was such an incredible book. The Characters I LOVE THE CHARACTERS SO MUCH I wanted to cry. So firstly, I want to talk about Nathaniel. This guy ... where can I get a guy like him in my life? Nathaniel was just so cute, funny and such a fierce character. He made me squeal in delight and put my hand over my chest because he TOUCHED my cold heart. He made me laugh so many times and I don't laugh that often when I read so he made me laugh clearly said something here. Again, WHERE THE FUCK CAN I GET A GUY LIKE HIM? I would totally date a guy like him. ❤ [image] Elizabeth was also the main character in this book and I ADORED her. She was such a fierce character, she did not give up easily when she had a problem and she honestly inspired me to not give up and to do my best to solve whatever problem I have in my life and on top of that Elizabeth was also a kind character. She is definitely on the list of the characters that have inspired me. If I could hug her to say my thanks, I would but I couldn't so I hug the book instead. Ms. Rogerson is such a brilliant author. Silas was also one of my characters in this book. I don't want to explain you about him in detail because I don't trust myself enough to not slip a minor spoiler, but I can tell you that he's such a complex character and I loved him so much. I wanted to hug him. Well, basically I wanted to give a hug or a lot of hugs to Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Silas. These characters were wonderful and they made the book more intriguing, more incredible and certainly more beautiful. I The Romance The romance was so beautiful and it completely stole my heart. I loved the interactions between Nathaniel and Elizabeth and the romance between them was so real and beautiful. They respected each other and loved each other. I want this kind of romance in my life ahhhh. The romance was definitely a slow burn romance. MY FAVORITE! but I do not really think it's an enemies-to-lovers kind of romance, I mean Elizabeth never hated Nathaniel but she wasn't exactly fond of him in the beginning. The development of their relationship was beautiful. JUST READ THE BOOK. IT IS SO GOOD. the reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because for me 5 stars are for books that I will reread again and again. While I loved this book very much, I do not think I will reread it. But hey, we'll see whether I will ever reread this book or not because I absolutely loved this book. Thank you so much for reading and liking this review. I honestly don't know what to talk about because this book fucking ruined me and left me without any words to utter from my mouth. I'm not complaining though. It's such a best feeling when books destroy me and hurt me emotionally and this book also lived up to my expectations. I swear I was so terrified when I started reading this book because I liked the first book but I nearly did not finish the first book because it was so freaking boring at first, that's why I was terrified when I started reading this book. I was afraid that this book might bored me or I might did not finish it but thank God, none of that happened. I relished every single day I spent with this book. [image] The Plot and the Pacing The plot was so much better than the first book. It was so fucking awesome and such an action-packed book. LIKE THAT WAS WHAT I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL. Ms. Ahdieh is a great author and I love her books and her writing style is so beautiful and amazing. Her books always manage to make me sob in happiness or pain. This book never bored me. Not even once. I always got shocked when I looked at the clock while I was reading it because time seemed flied so fast when I read this book. I did not even realize that I read the book for 4 hours straight! For the pacing of the book, well it was rather slow at first but I already expected that would happen and even though, it was slow, it was not boring at all and some things also happened. So if you read this book and then you find it really slow at first, please don't stop reading it because the the book was slow at first but it was pretty fast-paced when the book was nearing the ending AND IT WAS SO WORTH IT AND I LOVE THIS BOOK AAAAAAAAA and this book! I can't even. One moment I was laughing and the next moment I was sad and then after that I was angry and then after that I cried, I laughed and smiled. I LOVE THIS BOOK! NO I HATE THIS BOOK BUT I ALSO LOVE IT AAAAA [image] The Characters and the Romance I loved all the characters in this book, well except some people though because they got on my nerves and they made me wish bad things upon them. So, in the first book I totally hated this certain character so much and I even wished for this person to just disappear and I did keep hating this person in this book but it did not last long and then after that all the hatred I felt toward this person vanished all at once. Yes, I did not agree with this person with so many things but then after that I sort of understood and I just felt like I wanted to give this person a warm hug and I just wanted to tell you again that this book made me cry ... a lot because of so many different reasons. I rarely cry these days but Ms. Ahdieh's books always make cry and just like I said that I loved all the characters in this book. Shahrzad was such a strong heroine and honestly, she was like my inspiration and Khalid, I have nothing to say about him except that I have this huge crush on him and I like him so much OH AND JALAL AND DESPINA, I LOVE THEM SOOOOOOO MUCH and the romance!! IT WAS SOOO SWEET. These characters brought so much happiness to me. [image] But even though, I liked this book very much, there was still something that I did not like about it and it was the love triangle. I hate love triangle so much but the love triangle in this book was tolerable for me but I still did not like it at all. In my opinion, this book would be so much better without the love triangle. But again, the love triangle was not really bad, it was rather tolerable and the girl only loved one love interest. I will surely miss all of these characters and I even felt sad when I finished reading this book because I enjoyed reading it and I still wanted to be with my friends and the people that I really liked but I was also happy when I finished it. Before I begin reviewin 3.8 STARS
Before I begin reviewing the book, I want to say a massive thank you to My friend Brittany for telling me about the romance in this book because if you didn't tell me, then I wouldn't buy this book in the first place and also thank you for listening to my thoughts about this book through messages! [image] My Opinion Time! The reasons that I read this because Brittany told me about the romance and I also felt the need to read all of Ahdieh's books or at least try reading them and it's all because of Flame in the Mist, I loved that book so much! So, This book is a retelling of One Thousand and One Nights and to be honest, I haven't read One Thousand and One Nights. When I decided to read this book, I had these high expectations about the book and HOW COULD I NOT? when I loved the other book of the author so much but then surprisingly, I didn't enjoy reading it at first because I expected a lot of actions and there was too much talking and I ACTUALLY thought to dnf the book because AT FIRST I couldn't relate to Shahrzad and then Khalid was cold, too distant, bland and boring but then it all changed. It all changed when I was on page 103. My interest in reading it more began from this page and I had never been bored anymore since page 103. So it took me a quite long time to connect myself to the story of the book and relate to Shahrzad and the romance. [image] Another thing that fascinated me about Ahdieh's books is that I constantly need a dictionary with me while reading her books because every time I read her books, I often open a dictionary to know the meaning of some words and it happens so constantly to the point that I always put my phone beside me while reading her books and I'm actually happy because this way I can improve my english vocabulary. ( English is not my first language but I have been very interested to learn it and actively studying it since I was 8 years old ). AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY TIMES I CRIED WHILE READING THIS BOOK. OH MY GOD. It's not only the plot that made me cry but it's also because of the writing style. I don't like flowery writing style or a very beautiful writing style and don't ask me why because I don't even know. lol. But I totally love Ahdieh's writing style because her writing style is beautiful but not overly for me and so many lines written by her make feel as if those lines stab me in the heart and make my eyes teary and cry.
There are many more lines in the book that make me cry and please read the book yourself, you won't regret it or maybe even though you don't end up liking it in the end, at least you have tried reading it. I don't know how but Ahdieh's writing style always makes my eyes teary and makes me clutch my chest on one hand and stifle tears. This is why I love her writing style. [image] The Romance and The Characters Actually, I wanted to read this book years ago but then I knew there was a love triangle in this book and that prevented me from reading it because I LOATH A LOVE TRIANGLE SO MUCH.But then Brittany told me and explained me about the romance and I was convinced to read it and after I read it, I can say that the love triangle in this book is the kind of love triangle that I can tolerate. I won't go into full detail about it but I'm just gonna explain it briefly. So the MC has a first love but we don't see many scenes between them and the MC barely thinks about him and the MC is not the kind of character that I absolutely hate in a love triangle situation. The kind of character that is torn between two people ( God. That is why I hate a love triangle. It's so annoying. ugh ) because in my opinion, this doesn't happen in the book. The MC even rarely think about her first love and then she falls for another man. So, if you are like me, you hate a love triangle, then don't worry. The love triangle in this book is not bad. For me, it's tolerable. AND OH MY GOD. THE ROMANCE IN THIS BOOK. It's enemy to lover. MY FAVORITE TROPE. *squeals in delight* It's so good! and It literally made me sobbing and I don't sob often while reading books these days but THIS BOOK managed to make me sobbing. Oh my God. Every time I read this certain scene, I always find myself swiping my wet cheeks due to the tears. I could feel the romance and the spark of romance between them. I often found myself smiling because it's so sweet and romantic and there was no single scene that I found cheesy. Every romance scenes between the MC and her love interest were all hot, romantic and sweet. It's really good! [image] There is only one person that I [image] and the secondary characters in this book were all amazing! My favorites are Jalal and Despina. They made me laugh and smirk and giggle so many times. My Opinion Time! To be honest, I still can't believe that I have finished reading this book because I remember reading the first book months ago and I loved it and after I finished reading the first book, I felt like there was something missing inside of me and the sequel would fill this missing piece in me. So I was really excited and happy when this book arrived at my house and it was like a pure happiness for me. It was like the best day ever in the week ( it probably was ). But sadly, I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. Well, I still liked the book but I didn't love it. It wasn't amazing but it was a pretty good read for me. [image] The Pacing and Plot Actually, before reading this book I had already expected that this book would be slow but I did not expect that it would be this slow. It was sooooo slow and I felt like there was too much information. It's not like I didn't need those information but my God, that was too much information for me and honestly I totally would skim reading this book, if it weren't for a certain character and the writing style but I didn't do it and I am so proud of myself for being able to be that patient when the book was soooooooo slow hahahaha. and now about the plot, well the plot was good enough but oh my God, there were some brutal scenes and it was brutal enough to make me uncomfortable, grimaced, averted my eyes and I kept wanting to skim reading when I read those brutal scenes but I didn't do that because I was afraid I would miss something important and I still remember those scenes in my mind and I want to forget them so badly. I just don't want to remember them. Those make me afraid and uncomfortable. [image] The Romance In my opinion, this book filled with too much actions and not enough romance. There was indeed romance in this book but for me it's not enough. I wanted more romance scenes between two characters I adored and even though, the romance was not much, I still liked it and omg, the romantic bond between Mariko and the love interest was soooooo sweet and fiercely strong and THIS IS MY RELATIONSHIP GOALS. Their love for each other was so strong and they respected each other and they loved and treated each other equally and it honestly brought tears to my eyes because that was exactly what I wanted to read and this is also what I want in real life. While I was reading this book, I kept wishing and hoping that one day I hopefully would get a man like him. The romantic relationship between Mariko and the love interest was just so beautiful.
[image] The Characters Mariko was determined, fierce and strong. She's honestly like an inspiration for me and I felt as if there was this connection between me and her. I was just so proud of Mariko and I always agreed with her and nodding along with all of her decisions. She's certainly one of my favorite characters that has inspired me. In this book we also get know more about Yumi and I liked Yumi but not as much as I liked Mariko. I don't know what else to say. I'm speechless. **SPOILER** (view spoiler)[ At first, I hated Raiden because of what he did to Okami and I just couldn't take it and I was so furious that he tortured Okami but then later on, he changed into someone that I surprisingly liked. Well, I am still angry of what he did to Okami. NO ONE SHOULD HURT MY CRUSH but I don't think he's that person that I used to hate so ... I'm just so conflicted, okay. and about the ending, I did like the ending. It was beautiful to read and I was happy that Mariko and Okami were together and they were getting married but I was not really satisfied because I still wanted to know more. I wanted to know more about Amaya and Kenshin and now that Amaya was free from the enchanted tree. I wanted to know more about what happened to the Black Clan. In my opinion, the ending was too fast or ended too fast. But, I still liked it. Now, I can sleep soundly at night, knowing Okami is fine because I swear I kept thinking about him and worried about him while I was reading this book. I just couldn't sleep tightly but now I can. (hide spoiler)] **END OF SPOILER** Overall, it was a good read for me and even though the book was slow, the book never bored me and the writing style was so pretty and I loved it so much.

Finally! I can review this book, I was busy with college assignments and I even barely had time to read, but thankfully I've done mostly all of my assignments and I'm a bit free! YAY! But I'm going to have final exams in a few weeks, so maybe I'll get inactive when I have my final exams but I'll be back again! :) My opinion time! I read Warcross a year ago and omg that book was really good. It was action-packed and then the world, the technology, basically everything in Warcross was very good and it also hit a little bit close to home for me. I shed a few tears. Warcross was a great read for me. I swear I was so nervous and afraid when I read Wildcard because I really liked Warcross and I was afraid that this book would disappointed me because usually when I have high expectations of a book, then the book let me down later on. However, that did not happen to me with this book. Well, yeah the book was pretty slow at first but it never bored me and I always agreed with Emika. Like I don't even know how that's even possible that I agreed with her with every of her decisions. Emika was such a strong and fierce character and it was always easy for me to like her. Emika was not the only great character in this book, the other characters were also great and they even made me laugh and the friendship in this book was honestly so sweet! they supported each other and helped each other. To be honest, I even felt a twinge of jealousy because I also want to have this kind of friendship in my real life. *sighs* and there was this certain characters ( I'm not gonna tell you you who this character was because it would be a spoiler, if did tell you ) So this certain character caused me pain. Like so much pain, my eyes got really teary and I couldn't hold back my tears anymore and the only thing I wanted do was to hold this character and sob. There were moments where I just clutched my hair and read the book as fast as possible because I needed to know what's next and next and there was also a moment where I just felt like my heart was cracking slowly and my eyes were teary and I was so sad. This book made me feel a lot of emotions, happy, sad, relieved, anger and many more. Wow. I really liked this book. Wildcard was good but I also feel that it was not as good as Warcross. I mean Warcross was a pretty fun read for me but Wildcard was darker than what I expected and I liked it but ... I don't know there's something that I cannot explain because I don't even know it myself but for me Warcross was slightly better than Wildcard. But Wildcard was still good though. Emika-our main character-she hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championship and it doesn't go smoothly because she accidentally glitches herself into the tournament and everyone sees her. She thinks she'll get arrested because of this but then she doesn't. She gets a job offer instead from the creator of Warcross, himself, Hideo Tanaka and that job offer is to catch a hacker. so you probably are wondering why does Hideo after this hacker?and what does this hacker do? and can Emika catch this hacker? well, you need to read the book to know those answers and to know more about this book. This book is so cool! My Opinion To be honest, when I knew about this book, I didn't immediately put this book on my " want to read " list because I had never read a book about a game or a hacker, the cover was ugly and I wasn't really interested about a game. In my real life, I like playing games but I rather read than playing games. so playing games isn't really my favorite thing to do BUT I like watching people play games. like when my big brother plays a game, I sit next to him and just watch him play the game. it's kind of fun to me. let's talk about the book again, I'm easily distracted hahaha, and then I heard so many great things about this book and I suddenly felt interested to read it, so I read and OH MY GOD. and did I ever tell you guys that I love science fiction? I'm a big fan of science fiction! and I just love the whole idea of this book. it's so great! This book never bored me. Not even once. The story was very interesting and I just felt I couldn't read it fast enough. Sometimes, when I read a book, I don't instantly enjoy it but with this book, I instantly enjoyed it when I read it. Everything seemed so interesting and I was so intrigued with the plot. [image] The pacing in this book was really great. It's fast-paced. But even though, it's fast-paced, it could still manage to make me curious and in my opinion, every question I had while reading it was answered perfectly by the book. But I still have some questions when I reached the ending of the book and I can't wait to know the answers! Ugh, I need the second book right now! The Characters and The Romance I have no problem with the characters. they seem real to me and I felt connected to the main character, like most of the time, I found myself nodding along with Emika's plans or decisions and the secondary characters were all great and my favorite one is Roshan. I want to have a friend like him! just read the book and you'll know what I'm talking about. and now, about the Romance in this book. in my opinion, it's slow burn and I LOVE slow burn romance but the romance wasn't really that great. it was fine to me. Most of the time, I didn't really feel the romance but there was this scene that made me like [image] and I'm so glad that there are no love triangles and insta love in this book. YAS! This book is about a girl named Hattori Mariko, whose convoy is attacked by the Black Clan, when she is on her way to the palace to meet her future husband, the future husband she does not choose and love. She is supposed to be dead but she survives and now, she wants revenge. She dresses as a boy and then she wants to find out who sent the Black Clan to kill her and why this person wants her dead. My Opinion OH MY GOD. I didn't expect this. I didn't expect I would love it this much. I didn't expect the pain that I would suffer when I finished reading it. I swear, I thought about this book a whole night, last night, because I just couldn't forget how amazing it was and how it caused me a great pain. I shed tears several times over the beautiful and powerful quotes in this book. The quotes are both beautiful, powerful and great at the same time and I found myself nodding and agreeing to these quotes. There are so many quotes that I love in this book and my copy is full of sticky notes. These are one of the quotes that I love :

But believe me, the quotes are so beautiful and powerful. [image] The Plot I LOVED THE PLOT. Honestly, I can't decide whether it's slow-paced or fast-paced. I mean, there are many things that happen in the book but when I finished the book, I felt it was so fast. But I also think it's slow-paced because I got the chance to know the secondary characters and the MC. Sorry if I'm being confusing hahahaha because I honestly can't decide about the pace of the book. for me, it felt both fast and slow paced. AND THIS BOOK MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD. THAT RARELY HAPPENS. I cannot tell you the story because it might be spoiler and I don't want to spoil anyone, But I laughed several times while reading it. Most of the time, it's the banter between Mariko and Ōkami. They're just so funny and I can't help but laughing or grinning, when they bicker. [image] The Romance
I TOTALLY LOVED THE ROMANCE. THIS IS THE KIND OF ROMANCE THAT I LOVE TO READ. It is enemy-to-lover and for me, it didn't feel rushed or forced to happen. It was sweet and romantic and IT WAS SLOW BURN AND NO LOVE TRIANGLES. THIS IS THE KIND OF ROMANCE THAT I ALWAYS LOOK FOR IN BOOKS. The MC and the love interest took time to know each other and they eventually developed feelings for each other and it happened slowly, not instantly and by the time I finished this book, I got these feelings that one day, I want to have a man that look at me and think about me the way the love interest look and think about Mariko. I just don't know what else I have to say about the romance, other than I loved it and I SHIP IT. I hope to see more of the love interest in the second book. I CANNOT WAIT TO READ IT. I HOPE THE SECOND BOOK WILL DESTROY ME. I love to be destroyed by books. [image] The Characters *inhales* *exhales* I COULD RELATE SO MUCH TO MARIKO. I swear, when I read this book and I felt like I was looking in the mirror, because I could relate to Mariko so much and Mariko was an amazing character. She was brave, fierce, strong, clever and determined. Look, even though I could relate to her very much. I wouldn't be as strong as she was. Maybe I would weep. Everything she had been through was beyond what I could bear and she was strong and fierce to deal with these problems. Honestly, I want to be just like her. AND OH MY GOD. THE BROMANCE AND THEIR LOYALTY TO EACH OTHER. OH MY GOD. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF IT. I NEED MORE. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL. THIS IS WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS LOOKED FOR IN BOOKS. I have always loved watching horror or creepy movies since I was a kid so when I was a kid I watched Coraline movie. I wasn't born as a reader, so I didn't read the book first before watching the movie :( and I loved it so much! I still remember those days when I watched the movie and I felt my heart pounded so hard inside my chest and it was actually one of my favorite movies. I watched it all over again and again and I even watched it again with my best friend and she totally loved it too. So months ago I decided to read the book because I loved the movie when I was a kid and I liked the book so much! it was my first book in 2017. I mean, she was just a kid but she was SO brave. what could I do when I was around her age? possibly nothing important. you'll know what I mean if you've read this book, if you haven't then you have to read it. IT WAS SO GOOD! the story was really interesting and I should have read this book sooner! the illustrations in this book are so amazing and they're cute but some of them are scary too, which are SOO AMAZING. I almost always read this book at night and that was the perfect time to read this book. I love that feeling when I feel scared, my eyes barely wink, my breath become fast or when I clutch my hair with one hand and turn the pages very fast ( sometimes I think I'll tear my book when I turn the pages so fast. but I just can't control my emotion). So I suggest you to read this book at night. it's just the perfect time to read this book. She survives the initial assault of BeiTech and she is a pharmacy intern, as well as one of the member of the resistance on Kerenza IV. She does not expect to see her ex boyfriend, moreover in BeiTech uniform. Meanwhile, Kady and others are headed to Kerenza IV and it is not that simple. The ship that they are on does not have enough oxygen and there is even insurrection, but is there a time when everything is simple and goes smoothly? well, to know more about the story of the final book of this trilogy, you need to read it by yourself. :p My Opinion Honestly, I had high expectations toward this book. But hey, you can't blame for that. I mean after reading the second book, which is Gemina, I couldn't help to have high expectations toward this book. Gemina was REALLY good and I loved it so much. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy reading, because I did enjoy reading it. However if I compare it to the second book, then I will say that the second book was WAY better than this book. But if I compare this final book to the first book, then I will say that this book was better than the first book. I expected a lot of things in this book AND this book has my favorite trope of romance that I have always loved since years ago! it's enemy-to-lover romance. I will never get tired of reading this romance in books. [image] however the more I read this book, the more I realized that this book didn't meet my expectations and honestly, I was not even shocked. This happens VERY often. like SO many times. I have reached to the point of disappointment, that I NO LONGER CARE because it happens so MANY damn times. [image] so firstly, let's talk about the plot The Plot The plot was good and I enjoyed reading it. But again, if I compared this book's plot to the second book's plot, then I would say the plot of the second book was much better than this book. To be honest, I couldn't say whether the plot was fast-paced or slow-paced. For me, it was fine. It wasn't fast nor was it slow. however, I have admit that the plot confused me at first. There was a time, where I was confused but then in the end of the book, I understood, thankfully. But, I had to open the book again and think for a few minutes to grasp the information and understand it. For me, the plot was fine. It was interesting but it wasn't interesting enough to keep my eyes glued to the book. That was the reason why I took quite long time to finish reading it. In the beginning of the book, it was interesting and I was so intrigued to read more but a few days passed and when I reached half way through the book, I wasn't that intrigued anymore. I was indeed still interested to keep reading it but I wasn't very excited or intrigued anymore. I don't know why that happened. Maybe because I expected too much? [image] HOWEVER, THIS BOOK MADE ME CRY. I'm not being exaggerating, but this really happened. I'm not going to explain it in detail because that would be spoiler. So ... I cried and I was sobbing and I swore a lot. Tears were streaming down my cheeks and I cried so hard. There was a moment where I cried because I was sad and frustrated and I couldn't accept it, but there was also a moment where I cried happy tears and I swear, I even clutched the book to my chest HAHAHAHAHAHA. Come to think of it, I'm so glad that no one walked on me in that situation because I WAS SUCH A MESS AT THAT MOMENT. [image] The Romance and The Characters Now about the romance. This book has new characters and previous characters from Illuminae and Gemina. So there were several romances in this book because there were several people with their own love interests and there was a romance between these two people that I liked very much and I could feel the connection between them and I shipped them so much. But then there were these romances between these people ( they had their own love interests ), that I didn't really feel the connection between them and I couldn't feel the spark of romance between them. But at least, I had a romance that I enjoyed reading in this book, even though the other romances between those people didn't really catch my attention. Just ask me to know more in detail about who these people and these romances that I liked and didn't, because I'm not gonna explain in detail on this review. I'm afraid, it might be spoiler. So just to be save, I'd rather not explain it in detail. Now about the characters, to be honest, I wasn't that connected or even liked the new characters. I have no reason to not like them because I didn't even have problem with them but I somehow couldn't like them or connect to them. I'm not saying the main characters were boring or bland or plain, which they weren't but they were also lacked of ... something and I don't even know what. I just know for sure that I wasn't really fond of the new characters. They were just fine for me. They were neither amazing nor bad. lastly, before I finish writing this review, I'm just gonna say that I like Ella Malikova so much to the point that I want her to be my little sister because I adore her and she's amazing and I like her sooooo much. omg. I wish I had a little sister AND I WOULD BE SO FUCKING HAPPY TO HAVE ELLA MALIOVA AS MY LITTLE SISTER. okay, I think that's all I can say right now. I feel like I just bought the first book yesterday instead of months ago. I feel like I just read the first book yesterday instead of months ago. Months ago, I thought I would feel okay when I finished this series but I do not feel that way. I feel ... like empty or hollow on the inside, you know what I mean, right? like there is this sad feeling and you just want to read it forever and ever but you can't because the story is over and there is nothing you can do. the only thing you can do is hugging the book because that way you would feel much better, like you actually hug the main characters. maybe this is how it feels like when you have to say goodbye to your best friends who have always be with you. no matter how difficult the situation is but they are there. [image] I always envy those people who grew up with Harry Potter series. I envy them because they have such incredible childhood and me, I was a muggle that time and I used to hate reading novels so much and I had never once thought that I would love reading novels as much as I love breathing. Harry Potter series also has a great impact in my life. I was the kind of girl who always shy and never be myself because before reading HP I wanted people to like me, so I became what they wanted me to be and I rarely stood up for myself even when I knew I was right but Harry Potter series has changed me. you guys do know Luna, don't you? many people called her " Loony " because she believed in many things but Luna didn't care what they called her, she kept being herself and she had never ashamed to show her true self and that was the time I realized I was such a stupid girl who let my so-called friends changed me to be the girl I didn't even want me to be and now, my friends often say that I am such a weirdo or crazy girl who is very different from them because I love reading books so much and you know what? I just don't care about them anymore. I don't care when they say about me such a weirdo because I am not ashamed of being myself anymore because this is who I am and Luna also taught me one more thing, when you are being yourself and everyone teases you because of it. don't you ever worry about it because your true friends will come to you. these friends will accept who you are. Just like Luna who has amazing friends, Harry Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Neville. She is the right girl for Bill, even though I am a little bit jealous hahaha xD Ron and Hermione I ship these two so much and I really really like Ron. Ron and Hermione are always funny. they always bicker about something and I think the first time Ron fell in love with Hermione was on the book four because he was so angry when he knew Hermione went to the Yule Ball with Viktor Krum and in this book Ron hurt me so much. He thought that Hermione kissed Krum and he was so angry and jealous because of this and he kissed Lavender in the common room that was full of people and it also broke Hermione's heart. Harry looked into the corner she was indicating. There, in full view of the whole room, stood Ron wrapped so closely around Lavender Brown it was hard to tell whose hands were whose. And I was so angry in that moment [image] 'Er - my - nee,' croaked Ron unexpectedly from between them. but all my anger was gone when he was poisoned and he said that while he was asleep. I think he was trying to say Hermione, so that meant he dreamt about her and I forgave him that exact time and he also didn't really like Lavender anymore since then. he even pretended to be asleep when Lavender came to visit him in the hospital wing. so that meant he didn't like her anymore and I don't think he actually liked Lavender before he was poisoned. I think he just kissed Lavender because he wanted to make Hermione jealous and feel hurt, which he successfully did. Harry And Ginny have you ever thought why Ginny had relationship with quite many guys? wait ... not many guys because she just dated two boys, Dean and Michael. But she always got a boyfriend as soon as she split up with her ex and my thoughs about this is probably right because Ginny said this to Harry on the end of the book 'I never really gave up on you,' she said. 'Not really. I always hoped ... I hope so ... Dumbledore's death I admit that Dumbledore is not one of my top favorite characters in this series but I always found him funny and a bit weird, in a good way, of course. But his death left me in shock because he was actually pleading to Snape but Snape killed him with The Avada Kedavra curse and I thought Snape was on the good side. What will happen now after Dumbledore died?! He is the only one Voldemort is afraid of. Truth be told, it was more than a want this book tells us about a girl named Amani Al - Hiza lives in a town called Dustwalk and she lives with her evil aunt and an uncle who wants to marry her and she is trying to get out of from this town and go to Izman and one day, she goes to a shooting contest but she doesn't know this contest leads her to her adventure with a foreigner guy named Jin. My Opinion so I got this book a month ago and just like I usually do, I rarely read the books I bought immediately, I always wait when the right time to comes read them and in this case, I read this book a month later after I got the book and IT WAS FREAKING GREAT ASSAHSBAJHDBJSDJDJBDBS. I really had a great time with this book and DAMN. I STILL CAN'T STOP STARING AT THE COVER! IT IS SO PRETTY! I prefer this cover than the other covers, I don't know why but the cover looks so amazing and I assume it's Amani on the cover from her blue eyes and she looks kick-ass with fire surrounds her and that black clothes because I love black clothes, all my clothes are mostly black, I just love black because I think it makes me look kick-ass hahahahaha, okay I need to stop rambling and talk about this book. I love this kind of book and my favorite creature/mythical beast is Buraqi. A desert horse. A First Being made in the days before us mortal things, from sand and wind. I won't tell you anything about her, just read the fucking book and I'm sure you'll like her and all the characters felt so real to me and Amani! she's really really amazing and I just love her smart mouth even though it gets her into trouble ... there are no flat characters in this book, even the bad guys felt so real and I got annoyed by them. maybe it's because I felt connected to Amani. I just don't know why I felt connected to her. I have no smart mouth like hers ( I want to have smart mouth like her, actually ) and our personalities were not exactly same but we shared one or two same personalities and her character development was really outstanding and don't worry she was not a weak girl, she never was. she just got tough and tough and I have to stop at this before I spoil you anything. JUST READ THE BOOK, IT WON'T DISAPPOINT YOU. maybe you're wondering if I really liked this book this much then why would I give it 3,8 stars instead of 4 or 5 stars. alright, these are the reasons : The Romance I'm not gonna say the romance was bad because that would be a lie but I'm not gonna say it's good either. well, the romance was not as great as I expected, it was kinda boring ... I don't think that's the right term ... but the thing is I didn't feel truly connected to the romance. I felt connected to Amani but when the romance scenes happened, I felt like I was watching two people instead of feeling it. my advice to you when you read this book is you better don't get high expectation about the romance and maybe that way you can enjoy the romance more than I did. but this book isn't about romance, I think the romance is just addition to the story to make it sweeter. I hope the romance gets better in the second book. [image] Boring Moment this book isn't perfect, there was one time I got bored. but it didn't last long because seriously this book fills with so great and many action scenes and it was just once and I didn't even think to dnf it or anything because it was not the kind of boring that makes you just want to throw the book across the room so you at least get some fun at throwing the book. nope, it's not that kind of boring. it's the kind of boring you still can bear and maybe you get one or two yawn. but I don't think this kind of boring will make you fall asleep and again the boring moment was just once and it didn't last long maybe it lasted for 10 minutes because I was slow at reading it, I'm a slow reader. thank you so much for reading and liking this book guys, I hope you all have an amazing day! Hungries are inside the army base and they start eating people and there are bad guys too so all the survivors in this attack are forced to flee from the army base and now they all have to survive to reach their destination place. why does Melanie live in an army base? what happens at the army base? how could Melanie end up living in army base? who are the survivors? how many people? do they all survive in the end? where should they go now? where is their destination place? well, of course if you want to know the answers of those questions you have to read it. now I'm gonna tell you why I gave this book 4 stars : The Plot actually, I read this book a month ago but I put it aside for a while because I was not in the mood to read this book but then few days ago, I decided to read it again and I have to admit that I was a little bit bored when I read the beginning of the book. it was just plain and it didn't really catch my interest but I kept reading and reading and then BOOM! the action scene appeared and I was both scared and excited. I even kept reading this book from night till dawn. I JUST COULD NOT STOP and if I remember correctly, there was rain in my town at night while I read this book and I have never felt afraid of thunder or lighting but I somehow felt afraid of everything when I read this book. like when I heard something outside my house ( probably just a cat ) all the scary thoughts came to my mind and it was also raining so I kept reading this book while my heart was pounding so hard and I also kept thinking like " what about if that sound was something else? what about if zombies or hungries are real? " well, I got scared very easily while reading this book. [image] The Characters I had a quite hard time to like all of the characters but there is one character that I can't help to hate. you'll know who and why when you start reading it. this person annoyed me so much and I really wanted to punch this person but I actually felt sorry for this person before this person annoyed me so often. [image] (view spoiler)[ Dr Caldwell annoyed me SO much. she always treated Melanie like she was not a human. well, she was not a completely human anymore but she was not completely a hungry either. she could think and talk and learn and when she took away that vehicle, I felt like I just want to punched her face and I wanted to feed her to all the hungries. I mean, REALLY?! and I hate her so much because she acted so foolish when she saw a hungry pushing a baby carriage. because of her they almost died. (hide spoiler)] and I guess, I got connected to all the characters except that person when I reached half of the book. they started growing on me like I knew them and I was comfortable to see them and they were not plain characters. well, I just felt like I knew them and I went along the journey with them. **spoiler alert** I often forget a lot of things but this is the one time that I love myself for easily forgetting things because now I get to reread it for the third time but almost as if I was reading it for the first time ❤️ •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Second Time Read Review To be honest, it was pretty hard for me to decide how many stars I would give to the book. On one hand, I liked the book, but I didn't love it, but on the other hand I felt like I couldn't give it less that 5 stars because I wouldn't be the kind of woman I am today without this series. This series changed me and when I look back at the old version of me, I feel I don't really recognize that girl anymore. So yeah it was pretty complicated for me to rate this book. I think the reason why I didn't love it because I knew what would happen, so the shock was not there anymore. But then I loved the second and third book. hmmm, It's pretty confusing when I think about it. basically, I liked this book but I didn't love it. Cedric Diggory's death I cried you know when he refused to take the Triwizard Cup and he told Harry to take it. He was just so good and noble and when Harry told him to take the cup together, I was grinning while crying at the same time because I was so proud of Harry's decision. BUT I STILL CANNOT ACCEPT HIS DEATH. He didn't deserve that kind of death. I really hate Voldemort and Wormtail. They deserve a painful death and may them rot in hell for all the evilness they have done. Honestly, I still can't believe that there are death eaters who actually support Voldemort. Like what the fuck? Voldemort is evil and so freaking bad. Snape Being Mean To Hermione I do not hate Snape but there were moments where he just left me gaping with disbelief on my face because he acted pretty mean and annoyed me. For example is the moment where Harry and Malfoy were fighting and they tried to hex or curse each other, but Malfoy's spell caught Hermione and Hermione's front teeth became longer. Like very long until they passed her collar but then when Snape saw them, he said
I was shocked when I read that part because what did Hermione do to deserve that kind of response? that was just so mean. I felt sorry for Hermione right away in that scene. I wanted to say to her that "it's okay, the teeth can be fixed and Snape was just being bitter." The Morning Before The Third Task I really love the Weasley family with no exception. Percy is my least favorite though. This book is indeed a reread for me but I did not remember at all about this scene where Harry was told to meet his family before the final task and I totally did not know who would come because the Dursleys couldn't possibly come, so who's this family? and then when I realized that it was Mrs Weasley and Bill, my eyes suddenly became teary. It was so clear that Mrs Weasley, Molly, cared and loved Harry. Harry is so lucky to have the Weasley family. They're such a nice family and come to think of it, how can Malfoy mock Ron's family? to me it's so absurd. The Weasley family is a great and I adore this family. My Most Saddest Scene Cedric was a nice guy and he was really sweet and I liked him. I was so shocked when he died because I thought he would be alive until the last book and he died so fast that I just sat on my bed and I was like " What did just happen? " I still can't believe he died in such a young age and it was all because of Voldemort. Oh! and I was so proud of Harry too! he's so kind that he suggested Cedric to hold the cup with him, So there would be two winners not only Harry or Cedric and I was so confused who I wanted to get the cup first, I liked Cedric but I also liked Harry. So I was very happy when Harry suggested that but that happiness vanished as fast as it came. The cup was a portkey and the cup transported them to Voldemort and Cedric died so fast that I didn't even cry. I was just so shocked. [image] because what would Harry say to his parents?! and I was so worried what about if they blamed Harry for this ?!? but thankfully that didn't happen. Cedric's parents were very sad but they didn't blame Harry. They even thanked him for returning Cedric's body to them. My Favotite Scenes I think there is something change between Hermione and Ron. Ron was so mad when Hermione went to the ball with Viktor. He said it was because Viktor was from Drumstrang and he said Hermione was fraternizing with the enemy. But I still don't believe this at all. Before Hermione went to the ball with Viktor, Ron liked Viktor so much that he even wanted to get his autograph and I think he acted like that because he was jealous. hahaha. it was so funny and sweet to see Ron got jealous and there's also this scene : 'Known what?' said Ron quickly. 'You haven't been mixing up Love Potions, have you?' 'Don't be stupid,' Hermione snapped, starting to pound up her beetles again. ' No, it's just ... how did she know Viktor asked me to visit him over the summer?' Hermione blushed scarlet as she said this and determinedly avoided Ron's eyes. 'What?' said Ron, dropping his pestle with a loud clunk. 'He asked me right after he'd pulled me out of the lake,' Hermione muttered. 'After he'd got rid of his shark's head. Madam Pomfrey gave us both blankets and then he sort of pulled me away from the judges so they wouldn't hear, and he said, if I wasn't doing anything over the summer, would I like to -' 'And what did you say?' said Ron, who had picked up his pestle and was grinding it on the desk, a good six inches from his bowl, because he was looking at Hermione. 'and he did say he'd never felt the same way about anyone else,' Hermione went on, going so red now that Harry could almost feel the heat coming from her, 'but how could Rita Skeeter have heard him? She wasn't there ... or was she? Maybe she has got an invisibility Cloak, maybe she sneaked into the grounds to watch the second task ...' 'And what did you say?' Ron repeated, pounding his pestle down so hard it dented the desk. 'Well, I was too busy seeing whether you and Harry were OK to -' but before she could finish that sentence Snape came. Ugh. why did he have to come when she hadn't finish it!?!? but that scene was sweet and funny wasn't it?! AHH MY HEART!! [image] The Plot Twist The plot twist in this book was better than the plot twist in first book, second book and third book. I swear I didn't expect that at all! I thought the bad guy was Ludo Bagman because he acted so strange. He asked Harry whether he wanted his help or not and so I thought he was the bad guy. then there was a scene where Moody was the bad guy but he wasn't Moody. he was the imposter of Moody and the real Moody was imprisoned in his own trunk and this imposter was Barty Crouch's son. I have several things to say about this book, but first of all, I'm going to say that I love the Marauders, except Peter Pettigrew because he's a fucking a coward and he made Lily and James died! I hate him so much and when Sirius voice broke after he told Harry what truly happened that he was not their Secret Keeper, but it was Peter and then he found out that Lily and James died, I felt like my heart was cracking and I wanted to hug him and said to him that it was not his fault. Oh God, I just feel really sorry for Sirius. [image] Remus Lupin is such a sweet character He is honestly the best Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher! and he was also a caring and a sweet guy. He often smiled. He's smart, fun, and kind! he defended Neville when Snape bullied him or whatever that was because he kind of underestimated Neville and that was pretty mean, you know. I mean, yeah Neville might be reckless or that he often made mistakes, but seriously that was mean! he did not deserve it and I was so glad when Lupin defended him. This man was very amazing. so ... umm where do I find a guy like him in real life? he's such a sweet guy! OH! and one more thing, when Lupin was ill and he did not come to the class, but Snape came in the class instead ( I guess he was substituting this subject for a while because Lupin was ill) and he gave the students an assignment about werewolf so someone would realize his symptoms. UGH. SO WHAT IF HE'S A WEREWOLF? I mean, it would be okay if we put certain precautions. Basically, Lupin was just an amazing guy and I really like him. I am so sad that he resigned from teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts. He's the best teacher for this subject! [image] Professor McGonagall and Professor Trelawney One of the best scenes in this book for me is when Professor McGonagall and Professor Trelawney bickered. It was too funny ahahahahaha. Thank God, I was at home when I read this scene. I would surely get funny looks, if I laughed in public place.

He stays at his uncle's and aunt's house like he usually does for the whole summer. But this year is different, he can not control his anger anymore and he leaves his uncle's and aunt's house. There is also a man named Sirius Black, Mass-Murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort escaped from Azkaban. Most prisoners go mad withins weeks in Azkaban but this man doesn't and people say that he is coming after Harry and in Harry's first divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves and now, the school grounds are being Patrolled by DEMENTORS. My Opinion The cover of this book is so BEAUTIFUL! and the story was as amazing as the cover. I also found a new favorite character in this book and this person is Professor Lupin!! He is so cool and he is the best Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher I have ever met. because you know, all the Defence Against The Dark Arts teachers from the first book were not nice guys at all including that guy with useless ability. What's his name again?? LOCHART! GILDEROY LOCHART. I just remembered his name. Actually, where is he now? no one mentioned him and I hope I won't see him as a teacher in Hogwarts again. I still can't forgive him for what he was about to do with Ron and Harry in the second book. That guy is pathetic. [image] I loved all the characters in this book and Fred and George weasley were so funny in this book. Percy is the last person I like. I don't hate him but I don't really like him too. He's so stritch about rules and sometimes he annoys me but not much. here is my favorite scene : 'How're we getting to King's Cross tomorrow, Dad?' asked Fred, as they tucked into a sumptuous chocolate pudding. 'The Ministry's providing a couple of cars,' said Mr Weasley. everyone looked up at him. 'Why?' said Percy curiously. 'it's because of you, Perce,' said George seriously. 'And there'll be little flags on the bonnets, with HB on them -' '- for humungous Bighead,' said Fred. Everyone except Percy and Mrs Weasley snorted into their pudding. [image] I laughed so hard in the middle of the night because of this. I wish I were there to see Percy's face when Fred and George said that. Oh! and I remembered I laughed so hard too when Ginny said he found out that Percy was kissing Penelope Clearwater, his girlfriend. I mean Percy is so stritch about rules and he always study, study, study, so the thought of Percy's having a girlfriend was never crossed my mind. But he was cool enough to get a girlfriend. *shrugs* I was so shocked when I found out that Sirius was innocent and the bad guy was Peter Pettigrew. how could he betray his own bestfriend?! I think he did it to save his own skin without thinking twice about his bestfriend's life. James and Lily Potter died because of him and how dare he to say that Sirius was the one who betrayed James Potter! this guy is more pathetic than Gilderoy and I was shocked when Harry told Lupin and Sirius not to kill him and put him in Azkaban instead. That moment I realised that Harry was so kind. this guy was the reason his parents died and he didn't want him to be killed. This book also have the best ending. the ending in this book made me grinning but don't get me wrong, the ending in the first and the second book were all great too but this ending was perfect. 'What's that?' he snarled, staring at the envelope Harry was still clutching in his hand. 'if it's another form for me to sign, you've got another -' 'it's not,' said Harry cheerfully. ' it's a letter from my godfather.' 'Godfather?' spluttered Uncle Vernon. 'you haven't got a godfather!.' 'Yes I hav,' said Harry brightly. 'He was my mum and dad's best friend. He's a convicted murderer, but he's broken out of wizard prison and he's on the run. He likes to keep in touch with me, though... keep up with my news... check I'm happy...'
