I’ve been waiting almost 6 years for her to resolve the cliff hanger she left in the last Laws of the Blood book “Heroes”. I was disappointed in that of the 4 characters – the situation between Valentine, Geoff, Char and Jebel – only Valentine’s issue gets resolved.
I still have to read the other stories in this Anthology....more

Will this be the end of the series? Will the author leave this threat to the vampire clans, and werefolk unresolved? By the looks of her website it will. She has a Primes #8 “Dark Stranger” coming out Oct. 27, 2009 but its set in the distant future on a starship. And since I’m not into spaceship/sci-fi romance I’ll be checking it out from the library but I doubt I’ll be buying it....more

In this 5th book the writing was tight, the scenes and dialog flowed smoothly, and even the plot made sense. It’s just a shame that Sizemore’s last book in the series finally got me interested and caring about the characters. Even when she left me with a small cliff hanger/dangling plot thread at the end with the characters of Char McCairn and Jebel Haven.
I’ll have to email her and ask if she ever resolved the cliff hanger in a later novella. Cuz I sure would like to find out how the situation between Valentine, Geoff, Char and Jebel gets resolved. ...more

There were too many character names and story scenes (plot threads) to keep straight. I felt as if I was flipping the channel on the TV remote every thirty seconds as I tried to keep track of the plots. Just when I'd get a sense of what was going on with one thread, Sizemore would choppily flip the scene to another thread.
By the time I got through two-thirds of the book, it finally meshed together. But sheeze woman get yourself a better editor!! the structure needs work. The story in and of itself didn't turn out half bad and if you can make it to the end of the book, like me, you might actually enjoy it. ...more

There were two different story view points that left me bewildered and detached; until about the last 6 chapters of the book when they finally meshed together. I couldn’t seem to feel any empathy for the characters, and I had to grit my teeth and force myself to finish the book.
I hope the next book in the series of five is better. Unfortunately I bought the complete series thinking it was going to be as good as her “Primes” series. It’s not unusual that sometimes a first book in a new series is lacking and the second has a much better footing and takes off, well we shall see. ...more

Everything about this book was structured and paced perfectly, like ocean waves crashing on the beach, it kept your emotions rolling along and on the edge wanting to know what happens next. Plenty of sex and sexual tension throughout. A small hint of Primes background was given of their society groups letting you know the types – Clans, Families, Tribes. This time around you get more of a sense of the characters and have more of a connection to them. I can say two thumbs up for Sizemore, she’s finally gotten her “writing” footing under her with this new series. ...more

If you like your vampire males, the alpha driven testosterone types, dark and brooding, this series is for you. For me it was a change from the humorous paranormal romances that I usually read. A nice balance for me to switch back and forth from.
Now on to the scathing review. Having started out reading the 6th ,and last, book in the series, Primal Desires, I enjoyed it enough to buy the other books in the series. I was, however, rather disappointed in the first book. Not so much with the story itself, and the initial background of the main characters, but with the tempo of the book. I give Sizemore brownie points for getting the two main characters interacting with each other on a verbal level by the end of the 2nd chapter. But to frustrate the reader until the book was more than half over with before they got together body -to-body, in that the writer lost points. Granted there was a lot of psychic/sexual mind dreams going on. And to be blunt they were described and played out a lot better then the actual in-the-flesh scene which I thought was poorly written, to quickly delivered, and seem to be tossed in at the last minute. Maybe the editor was having a bad day and had Sizemore cut more than she should have. Who knows, anyway, unless you are curious about Primes and their medical treatment/condition you can easily skip this book and move on to the next in the series, I Thirst for You, which definitely puts your faith back into the author as a vampire romance writer. If I hadn’t read Primal Desires first I doubt I would have gone any farther than the 1st book, and would have missed out on a good series in the making....more

Bad boy vamp Laurent was introduce in “I Hunger for You”; his story is fleshed out and concluded in this book. I got'ta say I’ve always had a soft spot for misunderstood bad boys, who have a wicked sense of humor and deep down really want to be the hero. Such is the story of the renegade vampire, who doesn’t really want to be saddled with a mate and would rather be foot loose, fancy free, and rich from stolen wealth. But as they say things don’t always turn out the way you want it. I found “Master of Darkness” a very fun and entertaining read. ...more

Reading this was sweet, like getting a sampler box of Godiva chocolates and finding only one piece in the box. The one piece wanted you craving much more - like a half pound box. If you’re gonna write a novella the decent thing to do is at least make it 150 pages NOT 62 !!!!!!

This book is the second in a two part story arc that began with “I Thirst for You”. A well written and paced book, it neatly tied up the lose ends and fleshed-out more of the Primes social structure. I enjoyed reading about the bondmate/wedding ceremony and hope to see it again in future books. I couldn’t put the book down and had to finish it from cover-to-cover all in one reading marathon.
