But, didn't realize this book I own this book, got it years ago and finally realized/tried to read it, but, mega-NOPE for me. LOVE this author a lot. But, didn't realize this book starts with on-page graphic sex parties in which MC1, Tyler, is F-ing different people, being abused etc. If it had been in the past and started w the other MC seeing/finding/rescuing him, fine, but, the sex-with-others goes on and ON for too long, I can't un-see it and it's icky/gratuitous, not setting up romance. NOPE on this one, but, do read most of the author's other books, she doesn't usually include sex w non-MCs in her books and they're truly fabulous. ...more

I was greatly looking forward to reading this, it sounds like it is a stellar debut, but, the MCs aren't focused on only each other for quite a while. They are dating and physical with other people, including one scene on page with mentions of off page activity. What keeps it a Nope for me is that while the MCs are(view spoiler)[ circling each other and doing things like a kiss here and there and one angry hand job--they're also dating/with other people at the same time, even though the OP stuff is kept mostly off-page (hide spoiler)]. I just can't.
However, if that won't bother you, or you like that kind of angst, it sounds like a really well-written debut, with a toxic enemies-who-are-lovers relationship. In which case, I hope you love it! The character development and voice sound really strong and engaging/immersive.
I still wish more authors would include "intimacy with non-MCs" with some context (on page? Off page? simultaneously while circling each other?) in their trigger warnings. It is a legit trigger for a lot of us and would help to make better decisions before reading. This one would definitely feel like cheating to me, but for many it won't and they'll love the angst. It sounds like the character arcs/journey is complex and well done and gut-wrenching. ...more

(alOne hero is an escort and keeps seeing clients for most of the book. Sex-with-them clients. And per reviews, it hurts the other hero. A lot. Nope. (also, reading between the lines of one positive review, this sounds similar to First by KC Wells, in that the sex worker MC doesn't inform the other MC about his job but has sex with him anyway...major Nope. How can you care about someone and not give them a choice about being exposed to all your clients? Unheroic. I guess unless they do talk outright about it being very much an open relationship. Maybe they do. I'll never know.)
I will admit to being curious how/why this is marketed and touted as a rom-com with that dynamic though....more

Pining friends who pine for YEARS but don't communicate, and both are F-ing other people the whole time, espeically one who seems to jump anything that moves. Too ick for me, though I enjoyed these two as secondary characters/the friend group of the heroes in the original two books. Also like SB, there's an awful, gaslighting abusive BF situation for one hero, and it sounds like the abuser boyfriend gets away with treating that MC terribly with no resolution/consequences, which would make me pull out my hair. And I don't have enough hair to lose. Reminding myself to not read this one.
However, I do usually love this author so much, her Rossingly series is stellar, along with many others! Salt and Oyster are recent wins. ...more
After reading and loving Forget & Forgive, another of the author's cheating-premise books, I had high interest in exploring this one. But, after doingAfter reading and loving Forget & Forgive, another of the author's cheating-premise books, I had high interest in exploring this one. But, after doing research, it turns out that (and this is revealed in chapter 2), while the first MC/husband (Rhys) cheated on the other while going through Things (still not okay at all), admitted what he did and has been sorry ever since, the second MC/husband (Derek) went out and revenge cheated just to hurt Rhys and thinks that was okay for him to do bc the other deserved it. He thinks: One night I'd been so furious and hurt and betrayed that I'd gone out and done the same thing. Gone out a fucked some stranger.... Made sure he knew what I'd done and why I'd done it... Then he says: "I can't be with someone I can't trust."
Talk about an irredeemable hypocrite. And reviews say that, while the original cheater spends the entire book begging and apologizing and groveling for what he did, this guy never even says he's sorry for doing THE SAME THING. As if being cheated on justifies cheating. Everyone blames EVERYTHING on the first cheater, including both MCs. The second MC never has to own up to cheating as well, and I hear he never apologizes for it.
NOPE. Gross.
Too bad, sounds like this could have been a powerful book if only they'd held up a mirror to Derek and dealt with that. Or not had that happen at all, so he'd have had the moral high ground.
Forget & Forgive is a really interesting book though, well done, so, I rec that one! Very intriguing foray into the consequences of cheating and all that can be lost, as well as hope in the darkest space, when someone truly does regret and understand/accept the consequences....more

I LOVE this author, but, knowing that Stan knows he's in love w Raff (just can't admit it) but he's still sleeping w someone else (who sounds like a frustratingly awful character, not even worthy of it on a good-person front) and the two MCs aren't together due to this dating situation for nearly the entire book (plus the MCs have already been intimate w each in the backstory, so, they've been together, and then Raff gets cold feet and breaks it off, and Stan still starts dating/sleeping w this other awful character and is still dating him in the present, and Raff starts sleeping with anything that moves) I have to pass on this one. It would be too icky-squirmy Nope for my gut. I'm sure many will love it though! I am weird.
**addition, also, someone included this quote in their review, cementing my Nope: "You’re my something borrowed, I let him borrow you for a little while because I never dared to face what I really knew inside me." --I LET him BORROW you? The heroes aren't together in this book, but still into each other (as you'd expect), and I learned that one MC F's someone else, and the circumstances make no sense and are out of character based on the MC's opinions of the guy he F's. It sounds contrived to create conflict and would be too upsetting and icky to read. Knowing it happened ruined the relationship for me (I don't care that they aren't technically together--there are feelings, therefore, it feels like cheating, yuck) and I stopped caring about them being together.
