This book was a manga edition of the Shakespearean play, Macbeth. The detailed art and the text and speech work together to express themes from the original play. Honestly speaking, it was a wonderful experience, and I would especially recommend it to others who love to experience Shakespeare's work in a multitude of creative, effective ways....more

This Manga Classics edition of 'The Count of Monte Cristo' was immersive and fun. While the original book is incredibly long, this version of the story manages to keep it short but detailed. With an intriguing story and detailed art, I would definitely recommend this to others who enjoyed the original book, enjoy this format or other Manga Classics, or are looking for something new....more

Although I don't particularly like the original play by Shakespeare, I really did enjoy this manga edition of Romeo and Juliet. The art is incredibly detailed and grandiose, just like the characters themselves. I felt that it was able to effectively capture the plot and remain comprehensive without seeming cluttered. I'm pretty sure that this is an unabridged version of the story, as it's written in the same language, and I recognized many of the lines from the original play.
Overall, I think that this might have been a better experience than the original play itself, at least for me. I would recommend it to those who enjoyed the play or didn't, alike, because it really is an interesting way to experience one of Shakespeare's most well-known and widely-adapted stories....more

This book is a manga adaption of the charmingly classic story, Anne of Green Gables. As someone who has loved and still loves the original book, I really enjoyed seeing this adaption, and how the illustrators went about designing and drawing the tale. Truly a must-read for anyone who has enjoyed the original story....more

This was pretty enjoyable. The writing style was a little annoying at first, but it eventually grew on me kind of like foot fungus. It was interesting to read about how Esperanza's character grew and matured over the course of the story, especially with her identity in the time period she was living in. The ending didn't provide very much resolution to the story, which irritated me for no real reason.
Overall, it was agreeable, but nowhere near as exceptional as I was led to believe. I will admit, however, that my enjoyment of this book might have been affected by the fact that I had to read it for school, and we did annoying assignments to fInD tHe DeEpEr MeAnInG nearly every day.

All things considered, this was actually quite entertaining and held my interest for far more than required readings for school usually do. Personally, I’m not a fan of repetitive analyzation that results in nothing but my hand cramping and my braincell frying but this book was actually interesting to analyze, a rare occurrence for sure. The characters could have been developed more than the archetypes that they are meant to portray, but again, this is a short play and the way so much social commentary and conflict was packed into it without seeming rushed is in and of itself quite impressive. Overall, however, this made for a fairly enjoyable and thought-provoking read....more

Honestly, though, I think that Viola and Oliva should have ended up together instead of Olivia ending up with Sebastian (who I'm 100% convinced she married only because he's just the male version of Viola), and Viola ending up with Orsino (which I don't approve of but Shakespeare didn't ask me before writing this, did he?). Also, I'm pretty sure there was some unrequited love thing going on between Antonio and Sebastian, don't try to convince me otherwise.
Anyhow, I had a fun time reading this, even if I was a bit confused.

The circumstances in which IThe Merchant of Venice was interesting enough, I suppose, but it wasn't as gripping as some of Shakespeare's other works. The circumstances in which I read this book also question the validity of my opinions: do I think that this book was just 'meh' because it really wasn't all that interesting, or because I read it over Zoom class? I don't know, and I don't think I will, but it was enjoyable enough, and I suppose that's what really matters here. Of course, if you ask me about what happened in the story and the names of the main characters, I probably wouldn't be able to answer you with 100% certainty, but we don't talk about that....more

Many of these fables I had heard or had read before, but far more of them I had never even come across. It was pretty interesting to read them all in order. That being said, a lot of the language was confusing and dry, but, I mean, it's the lesson that counts, right?...more
