I kept hoping this title would get better, but it just never moved out of that mediocre spot (for me).
I never felt any real connection to Natasha, and (worse) I never felt like Natasha had any real connections to anything. She just did what she did, because...she did it? I don't know.
And besides that, this title was just depressing.

description

I'm assuming that this was the last volume of this particular incarnation of the Black Widow, and next There is only Secret Wars...
Whatever.
I'm not sorry to see this sucker go, because I sort of hated seeing Natasha doing her I'm a sociopath pretending to be mopey shtick.

description

I will miss the beautiful artwork, though. Seriously, I don't think I would have continued to slog through this gloomy title if it hadn't been for all the pretty pictures.

description

But even with that fantastic art, this managed to stir only minimal amounts of FEELINGS! in my chest.
Although I have to say, I loved seeing Natasha as Baby Widow.

You wanna know what else I liked about this volume?
I'm going to tell you, regardless of how you answer that, FYI.
I liked that Black Widow was a badass. She didn't give up, didn't have a pity party, didn't take the easy route, and didn't make excuses for herself.

On the flip side?
Do you remember how much you loved your best friend from childhood?

And your BFF's cat?

Well, I guess we all make a few bad choices when we're young, right?
Um...*cough*
Good to see you're trying to be a better person, Nat.

Elizabeth This series seems like such a mixed bag, and this review just sort of reinforces that. Still flip flopping on whether or not I'm going to read it. I may just do it for the "purdy pictures."

Jeff Ha! Nice spoilers.

F*cking cat getting hairs on the Widow's black ninja outfit had it coming.

It's not a BAD series, and a lot of people loved it. I jsut wanted MORE from the character. She's kinda dry and crunchy.<--my opinion.

Ha! Yeah, that one kind of shocked me when I read it, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Shit sure stuck with me!

XenofoneX I've gotta agree, just from the pics in the review, that must be one good-lookin' comic. I think I recognize the Noto art, but I've never seen Edmondson's. Nice. Too bad the story didn't stand up.

Paul Noto's art on this book is fantastic and makes the book worth reading despite Edmundson's a bit better than average story.
I want to know how Anne's read the end of this one... The last issue hasn't shown up on my Marvel Unlimited account yet.

Believe it or not, my library actually GOT this one! Yes. So, it's not a MU read. Shocking, I know!
And I agree about the art making a less-than-stellar story worth reading.
Definitely try it out for yourself, Eisnein. Lots of people (besides me) loved this run, and even if you don't, there's still those pictures!

Paul The liberry, eh? Cunning...

Anne I thought so...muahahahahahahaha!
