I feel like this book is a bit difficult for me to review.

I'm wondering if I would have enjoyed this book more if I wasn't a social worker? I realized that unfortunately I just can't read books about child welfare system anymore since I'm so experienced with this stuff.

I found my attention span wavering in and out due to the nature of the story. But, I can definitely see how others would rate this so highly. I am glad that I was able to experience something by Gail Honeyman!

Jaline I do understand your quandary, Kendall. I used to be a clinical counselor and there are times I want to jump into the story and sort everyone out - lol. If I can catch myself soon enough I can usually distance what I know from what's going on in the book. Other times, it's nigh impossible. :)

Mary Beth Sorry this one was not for you Kendall but I can understand why. Hope your next one is better.

Mary Kendall,I've just finished it and loved it! I understand what you're saying about having a different perspective on it because you're a social worker. Probably too related to work to be seen as a book read for pleasure.

Linda I can understand why this wouldn't be an enjoyable read for you, Kendall. I applaud you for finishing it. THANK YOU for the wonderful contribution you give to humanity.

Kendall Thank you Mary. Yeah a lot of people loved it. Glad you did.

Linda- aww thank you so much for that sweet comment! Yes it's nice to hear that... sometimes social workers unfortunately are associated with negative connotations a lot.

Kendall Hey Susie! Yeah just can't mix my reading and career 🙅. Sounds like we maybe have similar thoughts haha.
