I absolutely loved this. This is not for someone who wants a feminism nonfiction book, this is a book about three women's TRUE and REAL lives - with all the flaws they have and problems they have faced. I thought it was done so well to show how everyone woman, even one's we're rooting for, have their flaws, and that even women we might not be rooting for deserve respect, and how simply being a woman can affect your entire life and other's perceptions of you. This is not for people who don't like reading about sex - especially really taboo/kinky sexual encounters. But I personally think sex is one of the most intimate, legitimate ways of looking into women's lives and the trauma women specifically face.

edit: i just read some reviews and WHY are people saying this book is about sex/sex lives/desire???? guys this book is about TRAUMA. This book is about the TRAUMA women face from sex and the misogyny and sexism that innate surrounds sex for women. Come on now, how can anyone actually read this and think it's an "EROTIC" story about three women??? I don't think anyone giving it less than 4 stars actually read this book jfc

message 1: by Annette (new)

Annette This book was literally marketed as a book about female desire and, as you pointed out, it is not about that. The author even says in her preface she wanted to explore female desire. And it’s about trauma. The problem is that what was promised is not what the book is actually about.

message 2: by Avery (new)

Avery I listened to the audiobook for this and hated. I agree that this definitely NOT about desire the narrator spoke as if she was giving us some sexy tale and it didn't sit right with me. It also didn't sit right with me that the author herself referred to this as a tale of "female desire" when I don't think she did a good job of examining female desire any of the women.
