This read more as a paranorrmal murder mystery than a fantasy romance, which i have nothing against, it's just not what i expected and the fault in that falls on me. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ญ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ข๐, ๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐, ๐ฉ๐จ๐ข๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ค๐๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ข๐๐ง๐๐, ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ซ ๐ ๐ข๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ.
The romance though was not for me, i could not for the life of me connect with them as a couple, and i really tried but the chemestry, tension, banter and emotional connection were not believable. ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐ง๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐๐ญ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฌ.

Despite having a very rich setting, the plot was a bit formulaic for me in this genre. ๐๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ฐ ๐ข ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐๐๐ค ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ข๐ ๐ฎ๐ซ๐. Also i couldn't find it in me to care about our heroine or her struggles, and maybe that's why i was easily frustrated with her indecisiveness.
Now don't get me wrong i understand why she would have these moments, the period she lives in combined with her young age and society demands than from her. ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ค ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ซ๐๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐ฌ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐๐ค๐ ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ง ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ญ.
Overall an okay read but nothing grandiose, at least not for me, I was feeling rather detached from it all. Plus it was more tell than show and if you know me, you know there's nothing i hate more than that in books, especially fantasies.

I didn't read anything about this book going into it so up until later in the book I thought of death more as a father figure for her....which took a really weird turn. So when it became a romantic relationship I just couldn't really connect to it. I also am too attached and have to read the sequel but the relationship still gives me a bit of the ick.
@Ali, Yikes!! I could see why that would be weird to read ๐. Now i didn't have that same problem with their relationship but the romance was still not believable. Try seeing him as her mentor rather than father figure to lessen the ick factor ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ.
Same! I just cannot with the romance. There is no chemistry, all their "romantic" interactions seem so forced?? I got so confused when Death started to shadow fuck her (not completely but still) out of nowhere? I just felt like Death was more of a family-ish person to Signa. It felt so weird that she got all hot and bothered by him even though she was just hating him a few pages back. I was expecting slow burn, good chemistry & enemies to lovers, but I was instead given a creepy (grooming???), forced, romance.
