** spoiler alert ** A bit of a disappointment, after the reading of "Stiller". The subject matter is fascinating enough: a hyperrationalistic technician clashes with real life, and gets a completely different look on the world. But the way this is presented by Frisch is so unlikely: 50-year-old falls in love with 23-year-old, that later turns out to be his daughter, and then shortly afterwards dies after a snake bite. In addition, the style is very rudimentary, with short, moody, impassive phrases (consciously perhaps, as the view of an empty main character), but sometimes this works very repellent.
