Oh, so this is how it sounds inside the heads of people who can rationalize anything.

Cassy I love that you'd recommend it only to "bad friends." Too funny.

Anne Bwahahaha!

message 3: by Mir (new) - rated it 1 star

Mir Unfortunately the book itself self did not make me bwahaha.

Anne No, I'm with you. It ticked me off that they were the 'heroes' of the book. Self-absorbed cheaters? Yes. But they certainly didn't deserve a happy ending.

message 5: by Mir (new) - rated it 1 star

Mir Self-absorbed cheaters are realistic, sure, but it depressed me that so many people (or at least so I assume from the sales) sympathized with them or found the story romantic.

Anne Exactly. I was expecting a cute/fun romantic comedyish book from all of the 5 star glowing reviews.
???
Who the hell thinks cheaters are funny and cute?

message 7: by Mir (new) - rated it 1 star

Mir There seems to be this weird thing in pop culture where if there is anything objectionable about the partner's personality the cheater gets a pass. Not supportive of your ambition to quit your job and become a hemp bracelet artist? Doesn't like your drunk friends? hates dogs? Go ahead, screw around!

Anne Preach it! There are days (months/years) that I want to kill my husband. He's an ass. Then again, so am I. If he or I cheated every time one of us acted the fool? Ha! It would have been a very short marriage.

Mir I've noticed movies especially seem to give guys a pass on cheating on women who are bossy or managing.

Apologies for the country song, but I thought this was a pretty accurate description of how being annoyed with your spouse works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYjO-...

Anne You know, that is actually the perfect song.
The kids have asked us if we are still In Love. I always tell them it depends on which day you ask us. We always love each other, but In Love? It comes and goes. That's what keeps me form running him over with my car. Sure, I'm furious now, but tomorrow it'll be better. And what kind of guy doesn't want a bossy woman? We're the best!

Mir Think of how many more decisions guys would have to make per day if they didn't have women to boss them. Exhausting!

Or make those decisions for them.

Anne = clone of my wife

Anne Hee-hee! I wish I could meet her. She sounds like perfection!

Jeff One day. Maybe. Soon.

Right? I mean, ideally you'd read this and maybe get clued in that you had/were a bad friend, but I don't think that was the author's intent.
