Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said EDGE Micah Parsons (ankle) is expected to practice on a rep count Wednesday.

Parsons did not practice at all last week before being ruled out, so this is a major step in the right direction. He has missed four games while nursing the ankle injury he suffered in Week 4. His return will be a boon for the Dallas defense but appears to be too little too late for the team as a whole. With Dak Prescott on injured reserve, Dallas’s season is on life support heading into Week 10 versus the Eagles.

CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) is expected to be limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Per head coach Mike McCarthy, Micah Parsons is expected to practice on a rep count and Lamb is in a “similar situation.” It’s a good sign for Lamb, who was initially considered to be “week-to-week” with a shoulder injury. Subsequent reports have been more optimistic about his odds of suiting up on Sunday. Even if healthy, Lamb’s fantasy outlook took a hit in Week 9 when the Cowboys lost Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury. Still dominating the targets for a now Cooper Rush-led offense, Lamb will cling to WR1 value versus a middling Philly defense this week.

Cowboys released DT Jordan Phillips.

He was on injured reserve after a disastrous first few games for the Cowboys. Per Phillips’ Instagram, he appears to be headed back to the Bills.

Cowboys released CB Andrew Booth.

Someone had to go to make room for Jonathan Mingo. Booth has mostly been a healthy scratch this year and hadn’t played since Dallas’ Week 6 depantsing against the Lions. He had five solo tackles in 38 defensive snaps over three Cowboys games this year.

Cowboys acquired Panthers WR Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh round draft pick in exchange for a 2025 fourth round draft pick.

Dallas gets Mingo, a major 2023 second round bust for Carolina, as a potential ancillary option behind CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert. Mingo had 55 receptions for 539 yards and zero touchdowns over 24 games with the Panthers. Carolina will roll with wideouts Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker along with veteran Adam Thielen for the rest of the season. Coker, a rookie, has six catches on nine targets over the past two games in the run-heavy Carolina offense.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Dak Prescott (hamstring) will be placed on injured reserve.

Prescott will miss at least four games after tweaking his hamstring in Week 9 against the Falcons. His absence should all but end another disappointing season for the Cowboys, as Cooper Rush takes over a listless Dallas offense. In 30 NFL appearances since 2017, Rush has completed 60 percent of his attempts for nine touchdowns and six interceptions with a low adjusted yards per attempt of 6.6. Jake Ferguson and CeeDee Lamb are the only fantasy-relevant Dallas players with Rush under center.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said that Ezekiel Elliott would “be available this week.”

McCarthy said he has not spoken with the veteran back since Friday, but the expectation of this quote seems to be that Elliott will be active again on Sunday against the Eagles. Existing is practically all Elliott does from a fantasy football perspective. His only purpose at this juncture is to siphon away snaps from Rico Dowdle.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Micah Parsons (ankle) “should be back” for Sunday’s game against the Eagles.

Parsons has missed the Cowboys’ last four games while recovering from a high-ankle sprain but appears set to return for Week 10 against the Eagles. This announcement comes just hours after it was revealed Dak Prescott (hamstring) would miss several weeks, which could make things tough for the 3-5 Cowboys. Parsons has totaled 14 tackles and one sack in the four games he’s appeared in this season. The Cowboys are currently allowing the second-most points per game (28.1) and the sixth-most yards per game (364.8), so Parsons’ return will be a welcomed one as Dallas looks to save its season.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris reports CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) is considered “week-to-week.”

But, with the caveat: “with optimism he can go vs. Philadelphia.” Adam Schefter called the injury a sprained AC joint and seconded the idea that Lamb has a chance to play in Week 10. Lamb played through the shoulder injury towards the end of Week 9’s loss to the Falcons, catching a two-point conversion on Dallas’ final offensive play of the game. Lamb is still startable with Cooper Rush expected to be under center, but ceiling expectations should probably be reduced at this point for the star wideout.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury is worse than initially feared and that he’s likely to miss multiple weeks.

It’s a brutal blow for Prescott and the 3-5 Cowboys. Rapoport reports Prescott will seek a second opinion on his injury but reiterated that he is “out multiple weeks, and it could be more.” With Prescott now sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Cowboys will turn to Cooper Rush, who completed 13-of-25 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons. Rush has a career passing line of 1,786-9-6 on 275 passes and is 5-1 as a starter. He should give the Cowboys a fighting chance in Week 10’s game against the Eagles, but this injury do Dak looks like the proverbial nail in the coffin of the Cowboys’ 2024 campaign.
