We’ll support you to realise your career priorities, such as earning a healthy salary, finding a friendly workplace, and making an impact on wider society.

One-to-one careers coaching with your Faculty Careers Consultant will help you identify the skills and experiences that align with your goals and existing commitments, and you’ll learn how to write an effective CV, create a stand-out LinkedIn profile, and prepare for future interviews. 

Our Careers and Entrepreneurship team offers:

  • an award-winning Sussex Career Lab which boasts a menu of work experience opportunities to help you explore your options, build key skills and connect with employers
  • 1:1 support with careers consultants
  • skills development workshops
  • advice from professionals and former Sussex students working in your sector
  • Careers Fairs and other employer events.

Gain real-world experience and employability skills

Throughout your course, you’ll have opportunities to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges. With employability skills woven throughout your learning experience, you’ll also benefit from authentic assessments designed to prepare you for life after graduation. 

For example, in the past:

  • Media Production students have created a video campaign for the Towner Art Gallery
  • Law students have provided pro bono legal advice to surrounding communities through our Law Clinics
  • Life Sciences students have drafted funding applications for conservation charities
  • Engineering students have designed potential solutions to local sustainability challenges.

Placements and internships

Many of our courses include professional placements, and you’ll also have the chance to explore a range of potential internships.
