Merge gadget
Hey UV, Just so you know, there is a gadget in your preferences that when activated allows you to merge items automatically. It can even send the emptied items to RfD automatically. There is more info at Help:Merge. It's such a useful feature :) Cheers. -

I'm new here - where can I find out about rules like "Property:P1151 should always correspond to Property:P1204"? Thanks, Swpb (talk) 03:01, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, and welcome! Some information on individual properties can be found on the property's talk page, such as Property talk:P1151. General information about Wikidata is available at Help:Contents. Feel free to ask questions that are not covered in the Help:FAQ in the Wikidata:Project chat. Greetings, --UV (talk) 20:09, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
some help tools
Welcome UV! You may add some help tools to user:UV/common.js or (if you use the vector skin) to user:UV/vector.js . Please see User:Rotsaert8000 (in Esperanto), Wikidata:Tools, and Wikidata:Tools/User scripts for candidates you may add. On the user:i18n-page you will see all WD gadget links. It takes time to see what fits most of your interests. Good luck! Please feel free to use the Wikidata Sandbox item: Wikidata Sandbox (Q4115189) for your first steps adding some statements see Wikidata:List of properties. If you want to notify a user you may use {{ping|foo bar}} at any place on this wiki. Regards gangLeri לערי ריינהארט (talk) 16:18, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Wrong edits
Hi, you said this edit is wrong. It is correct, according to English Wikipedia, which I used as the source. It would be more effective to fix it on en.wp (if it is indeed wrong) than to tell me... --Magnus Manske (talk) 15:55, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hello, looking at en:Empress Michiko, I nowhere find the information that she died in 1990. On the contrary: According to that page, she belongs to en:Category:Living people. Could you please double-check this? Greetings, --UV (talk) 16:01, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- The bot imports from the "Persondata" template, and there it says she died. The point, of course, is that the bot is working correctly; the source is flawed. --Magnus Manske (talk) 16:43, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, now I understand. Thank you for explanining! --UV (talk) 18:23, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Please look at different language labels. Partly main topic is railway (Q22667), partly is rail transport (Q3565868), partly is unknown item. May be the subject item should be divided? --Infovarius (talk) 12:52, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Please look at Property:P1204, Property talk:P1204, Property:P1151 and Property talk:P1151. Both properties have constraints, according to which they should contain a single and unique value, and according to which they are the inverse property of each other. I therefore see two possibilities: either to pick the topic that fits better (and to leave the one that fits not so well out), or, if you are convinced that the different portals deal with different topics, to split the portal item. However, introducing constraint violations, like you did again, is not a good way to deal with the situation IMHO. --UV (talk) 23:19, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- If you place constraints above real information there is another possibility - to use exclusions in constraints. --Infovarius (talk) 21:22, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- If you believe that the constraints are wrong, it would be a good idea if you opened a discussion at Property talk:P1204 and Property talk:P1151 (or, if you believe that an exclusion should be used in this case, if you added the exclusions to Property talk:P1204 and Property talk:P1151). --UV (talk) 21:42, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- Done. --Infovarius (talk) 13:48, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Babel
Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:de-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can add links to your userpage on Wikipedia e.g. de:User:UV. --Tobias1984 (talk) 18:32, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

United Nations Treaty Series Volume Number
Good evening! Are there any specific reason why United Nations Treaty Series Volume Number (P4222) should not be used in International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships (Q1979787). According to UNTC [[1]] the volume number for this treaty is 1291. Best regards Pmt (talk) 21:38, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Pmt, as I understand the property proposal (Wikidata:Property proposal/United Nations Treaty Series Volume Number), the property United Nations Treaty Series Volume Number (P4222) should only be used for items that describe a single UNTS volume (e.g. United Nations Treaty Series Volume 1291 (Q40276397)), and not for individual treaties. Individual treaties should be described using not the volume number, but the registration number (using a different property: United Nations Treaty Series registration number (P4231)). According to the UNTC link you provided, the registration number for this treaty is 21264. I have, however, added the statement “International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships (Q1979787): published in (P1433) → United Nations Treaty Series Volume 1291 (Q40276397)”. Greetings, --UV (talk) 11:20, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Good afternoon UV. Thank you for the answer. I find it usefull. Breg Pmt (talk) 13:33, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Ortschaften
Hallo,
du hast mehrere Items auf Ortschaft (Q11183787) gesetzt. Ich bevorzuge hier locality (Q3257686), weil Ortschaft (Q11183787) said to be the same as (P460) Ortsteil (Q253019) ist, was (zumindest für Österreich) einen Widerspruch darstellt - entweder ist etwas Ortschaft oder de:Ortsteil, beides zugleich geht nicht. Was mit dem Qualifier Ortschaft (Q11183787) erreicht werden soll, weiß ich leider nicht, denn in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz ist das jeweils anders definiert. In Ortschaft (Q11183787) steht dazu: "abgrenzbarer Teil einer politischen Gemeinde" was kaum Klarheit schafft. --Maincomb (talk) 14:35, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
