Motivation
[edit]I think that this property would be a good identifier and that this property can also be used to prove various statements within the data object. --Gymnicus (talk) 15:50, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support, an important property for gymnastics.--Arbnos (talk) 17:00, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Do we really need a property for just 39 entries? Or are there more? --Emu (talk) 18:03, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Emu: I don't see that as an argument now. Even if there are “only” 39 entries, the property is not only used 39 times. At least that's the case by me. I can prove the date of birth (P569), a residence (P551) and the association (member of sports team (P54)) via the property. That means there are three more uses of the propertie. So according to my calculation you get at least 156 uses and thus more uses than the BSD Portal athlete ID (P4650) is currently used. You are also right that there are more. For example, the gymnast Tabea Alt (Q24006613) who has entered also has an ID, even if you can only access it via the Internet Archive (Q461). By her you would use the following statement: Tabea Alt (Q24006613)DTB artistic gymnast IDtabea-alt
archive URL (P1065)https://web.archive.org/web/20190102050452/https://www.dtb.de/turn-team-deutschland/team-geraetturnen/athletinnen-und-athleten/tabea-alt/ – Just like Tabea Alt, other gymnasts will also have such an ID. You just have to search to find the archived page. --Gymnicus (talk) 19:34, 12 May 2021 (UTC) - I believe it is generally agreed that external identifier properties should have a certain minimum amount of possible identifiers. Some say it’s 1000+, I would generally consider a few hundred enough. Everything else can be done with described by source and stated in. --Emu (talk) 19:48, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
