- @VIGNERON: We can create this property, it's a great idea. I don't think that it will substitute the use of the two other properties as normal statements (not qualifiers) because this property will be use for just a few cases. A lot of etymology give us just a century or a decade and no first document (for example slang words). Tubezlob (🙋) 17:57, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
Oppose as argued at Wikidata:Property proposal/date of first attestation. I'd prefer to not start with fuzzy properties that can hardly be referenced. Moreover first attestation could be a combination of place and date (e.g. it was used later in Europa than in the US) so this is better be stored with qualifiers. -- JakobVoss (talk) 15:59, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Comment Maybe it's better to word it as "earliest known" instead of "first", to make it clearer that the true first date may be never known. NMaia (talk) 14:09, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
