Discussion

  • @VIGNERON: We can create this property, it's a great idea. I don't think that it will substitute the use of the two other properties as normal statements (not qualifiers) because this property will be use for just a few cases. A lot of etymology give us just a century or a decade and no first document (for example slang words). Tubezlob (🙋) 17:57, 24 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose as argued at Wikidata:Property proposal/date of first attestation. I'd prefer to not start with fuzzy properties that can hardly be referenced. Moreover first attestation could be a combination of place and date (e.g. it was used later in Europa than in the US) so this is better be stored with qualifiers. -- JakobVoss (talk) 15:59, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Maybe it's better to word it as "earliest known" instead of "first", to make it clearer that the true first date may be never known. NMaia (talk) 14:09, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@NMaia: Yes good idea, I changed the label in the model that I suggested here. Have you an opinion for this model? Tubezlob (🙋) 16:11, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
