Well, hi everybody. I just made my 2,013th edit – to Q2013, no less – and I've always had a bit of a thing for numbers matching up in cool ways... I like the poetry of it all. So I figured I'd take a stab at this.
I've only been a Wikimedian since early November, but I'd like to think I've learned fast. I'm probably the first person here who's running more on his Wikidata record than on his record anywhere else: I've made a modest 6,800 edits to enwiki, and obtained reviewer and rollbacker privileges, but I haven't truly done anything special there. But since late December I've been really getting into Wikidata. I've worked in pretty much every part of the project except ones that I lack the technical knowledge for (though I've made minor suggestions on bots and gadgets). I've made several templates, including {{Rfd group}}
(which, before there were bots doing this, I used to request the deletion of some 225-ish non-notable items), {{Glossary}}
, and the markup that became {{LangDirSwitch}}
. In terms of need for administrative tools, I've worked heavily in WD:RFD, and I keep odd hours, so sometimes I see requests go unanswered there for long periods of time, and wish that I were able to delete them. I'm also experienced in counter-vandalism on En, and I've proposed several changes to the MediaWiki namespace. Finally, there are numerous pages that I edit, including templates and WD:NEWS, that might wind up fully protected once our vandals get a bit more clever, so I think editprotected
could be useful for me; importer rights would also come in handy template-wise. I don't believe that adminship should be a gold star, and I wouldn't be requesting it if I didn't think I could be of help to the community.
The one thing that I'd say I've struggled with is occasionally forgetting that not everything (in fact, almost nothing) needs to be as spectacularly dramatic as on the English Wikipedia. However, I very much like how peaceful things are here, and have no interest in being the one to bring original sin into this Edenic wiki. I'm not at all fond of admins using their tools as an alternative to polite discussion, and can assure everyone I will not be engaging in that nasty habit.
Thank you for your consideration. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 05:22, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Due to an enduring propensity in your truly, the undersigned, to communicate – nay, to pontificate – with inordinate loquacity (or, dare I say it, logorrhea) I regretfully submit that I may be incapable of fulfilling the above entreaty to a satisfactory degree. Jk will do. Only wrote so much because I thought people might take issue with my being relatively new to Wikimedia. I'm glad to see that that hasn't been an issue, and will shut up now. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 10:59, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
