Madame Bovary (Italian: I peccati di Madame Bovary (The Sins of Madame Bovary), German: Die nackte Bovary, Play the Game or Leave the Bed) is a 1969 Italian-West German historical erotic drama film directed by Hans Schott-Schöbinger and starring Edwige Fenech, Gerhard Riedmann and Franco Ressel.[1] It is based on Gustave Flaubert's 1857 novel Madame Bovary, although the film cuts out the book's portrayal of her early life and focuses more heavily on her sexual relationships.
