Michael Van Buren Jr. (born July 11, 2004) is an American football quarterback for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

High school career

Van Buren attended Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland.[1] As a junior, he threw for 1,707 yards and 18 touchdowns.[2] After originally committing to Oregon,[3][4] Van Buren flipped his commitment to play college football at Mississippi State University.[5]

College career

Van Buren began his freshman season as the backup to Blake Shapen.[6] After a season-ending injury to Shapen, Van Buren was named Mississippi State's starting quarterback against Texas.[7] In his first career start, he threw for 144 yards and rushed for a touchdown in a 35–13 defeat.[8][9] Against Georgia, Van Buren threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns in a 41–31 loss.[10]
