Removed strange sentence with irrelevant citation
[edit]Someone (I think Volunteer Marek? I'm a new editor and had trouble interpreting the history) had added a sentence to Anti-Communist purge section to the effect of "There is no evidence that the United States contributed to the level of the killings", which contradicts what the rest of the article is saying. The sentence included a citation of a Robert Cribbs article, which I read, and which made 0 reference to CIA activities or US involvement in the coup - because that was completely outside the scope of the article, which was a very general overview about why the massacres may have been so extensive. - Yeah, my guess is they're all students. And considering just how extremely low-quality most of these "CIA activities in..." articles are, they could have picked a worse place to edit.TheTimesAreAChanging (talk) 04:45, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
Why a CIA Visitor in 1985?
[edit]Can anyone provide context for a CIA officer visit to Indonesia in 1985?
- Transit Hong Kong 13-14Jan85
- Indonesia entered 14Jan85
- Transit Hong Kong 19-20Jan85
The man, a case officer in the Directorate of Operations since 1951, had expertise in labor unions (VietNam, Europe) and with left-wing intellectuals, writers, journalists. The trip is not consonant with the broad sweep of his career, and must have been triggered by some special event (the funeral of an Agency asset?), need, or opportunity. The trip dates are stamped in my father's passport. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerry-VA (talk • contribs) 14:04, 20 September 2016 (UTC) Jerry-VA (talk) 14:07, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
