[edit]added a more neutral wording to this average soccer player. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jloscousin (talk • contribs) .
- It's funny you think the national team top scorer of one of the most important national teams in the world is just an average football player. But considering your edit on the Human penis size [1], you can't truly be taken serious. Mariano(t/c) 07:15, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Life after retirement
[edit]Does anyone know what he's been up to lately? I've heard rumours that he has moved to Australia. Is this true? --Bicycle repairman 08:57, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- Not really. When he announced his retirement he said he would move to the countryside of his Santa Fe Province, but who knows... Mariano(t/c) 10:44, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
yes its true, he lives in perth australia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Portillo (talk • contribs) 08:11, 27 May 2006.
- I haven't found any official source, but several unnofficial ones. It is unclear though wether he is permanently moved there or staying temporally. Mariano(t/c) 06:41, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Depends what you mean by official. Hes currently in negotiation with perth soccer club perth glory, investing not playing.

- Yes, that's what I found before. And that's why I left the paragraph on Perth. Mariano(t/c) 07:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
I live in australia and when he first arrived he was interviewed on a sports show. Perth is very isolated if you look at the map, and he wanted to be where ppl wouldnt recognise him as much, and retire. He was also in attendance at the soccer grand final this year that was held in sydney.
Descent
[edit]Based off of his fathers first name and Batistuta's middle name, Omar, I'm wondering if he has Middle Eastern heritage... Can anyone confirm or confute this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.12.88.6 (talk) 01:21, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Incorrect, Omar is a popular name in Spanish speaking countries. eg. Omar Esparza, Omar Bravo and Omar Sivori. It was introduced by the moors who also brought names like Fátima and Zaida.- Spiderone (talk) 16:30, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Does anyone know if Batistuta is an Italian-Argentine? I know for a fact that Battistutta is an Italian surname (from Northern Italy) and Batistuta just seems to be a respelling of it in Spanish (such respellings seem to be pretty common in South America). Plus it would just be very likely if you think of all of the Argentines of Italian descent, a lot of them are football players who played or still play in Italy (the so-called oriundi, as they're known in Italy). I guess Batistuta is just one of them, but I can't find any information about all this.. I'd really like to know something more about it, such information might be added right on the article also —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.40.49.145 (talk) 01:01, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Introduction
[edit]there is alot of history up front, reckon it could do with being scaled down or moved to a better position.Stephen Hayes (talk) 09:28, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
54 or 56 goals?
[edit]So Messi just broke his record with 55 goals, but here is says 56. Per ESPN: "Batistuta struck 54 times in 78 appearances for Argentina (the AFA does not count two goals he scored against the Slovakian youth team in 1995)."
99.57.133.253 (talk) 02:30, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
- 56 goals, two goals were scored in a non-FIFA match. SLBedit (talk) 18:12, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
Ethnicity
[edit]His ethnicity is being changed over and over. SLBedit (talk) 12:28, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
