Removed as unsupported editorial opinion on sources. The Times and ODNB are classic examples of sources viewed as reliable (even if they disagree in this instance). What is known for certain is that the French painter and writer, Jean René Bazaine was a great great great grandson of Hayter, through his eldest daughter, Elizabeth who married the older brother of Marshal Bazaine.
