Article split

[edit]

Even though this article at this point is just a stub, the topic is too broad for easy reference. The Marianas campaign was central to the US winning the war in the Pacific, and the invasion of the Marianas was the impetous that caused the Japanese Mobile fleet to respond for their decisive action, which was the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The campaign in the Paluas, though deemed necessary by the Pacific command in Pearl, was off the main axis of advance and was quite secondary. Subsequent to the end of the war, many question whether it was even necessary to undertake the Paluas campaign. This being the case, that they were two distinct efforts of very different importance to the outcome of the war, it seems reasonable to split the topics. French jpg in the article

[edit]

What is the French picture doing in this article? And the description? "Drawing of the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign"? What does that supposed to mean? It is clear to me that it describes who was in charge of what on the American side. An English version should be made of this picture. 143.176.96.236 (talk) 05:48, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
