Fix alphabetical ordering for Ainu and Ryukyu task forces

[edit]

The documentation lists the parameters for the task forces all in alphabetical order (which makes sense).

Almost all of them are also displayed by the template in alphabetical order (if the leading descriptor of "Japanese" is ignored for some of them, at least): Japanese baseball, Bibliography, Biography, Business and economy, Japanese cars, Japanese cinema, CJKV, Culture, Districts and municipalities, Education, Flora and fauna, Food and drink, Gaijin tarento, Geography and environment, History, Infrastructure, Law and government, Japanese military history, Music, Mythology, Owarai, Photo, Politics, Prefectures, Religion, Royalty and nobility, Science and technology, Shinto, Sport, Tokyo, Trains in Japan, and Transwiki Update.

...But the last two task forces – the Ainu and Ryukyu task forces – are listed at the very end, for some reason. Please move them into alphabetical order with the other task forces (the Ainu task force should be listed first, before the Japanese baseball task force; the Ryukyu task force should be listed between the Royalty and nobility task force and the Science and technology task force). These two task forces were the last to be added, see this diff relating to this request, and this diff relating to this request. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:07, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Show photo request when collapsed

[edit]

@MSGJ: Would it be possible to make a some sort of indicator appear in the collapsed form of the template (such as when {{WPBS}} is used) when one or more of the photo request parameters is filled? I know the BLP indicator does this. It could contain information similar to the {{needs photo}} template, but indicating what photo is needed and/or where it might be found (based on the parameter info). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:23, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean in the Japan template or in the banner shell template? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 18:48, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: How it shows when collapsed in the WPBS, I guess. For example, this is how it currently appears:

WikiProject Japan / Military history   (Rated Stub-class, Low-importance)

If it could appear something like this, that would be great:

WikiProject Japan / Military history   (Rated Stub-class, Low-importance, Photo/Image requested)

Is that doable? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:53, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A very rough and ready mockup: — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:26, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: I like it! Can we have the text "Photo requested" (to keep it short) next to the icon? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 21:50, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to play around with the HOOK_NESTED_ASSESS parameter (see the diff). We can probably put that icon so it appears after the rating/importance (would that be better?) But getting it inside the brackets would require significant coding changes to the meta template. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:28, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: Here's a bit of tweaking:
Thoughts? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:45, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good on a wide screen, not so good on a smaller screen. Try reducing the width of your browser window to compare. I've moved the icon to the right side of the ratings, which I think is much neater. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:53, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Red version
I can't really compare as whatever you did messed with my version. However, I think the camera icon you switched to works fine, though I think it should be a little smaller (perhaps 20px). Also, I made this red version, if you want to use it. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 17:09, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: why? This doesn't seem like a clear improvement. Elli (talk | contribs) 08:24, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Elli: The file which I suggested to change, ITŌ Hirobumi.jpg, is the original version of the current file Itô Hirobumi.jpg. Please see its Wikimedia Commons file page and National Diet Library. --TKsdik8900 (talk) 08:48, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"within the scope of the WikiProject Japan" should probably just be "within the scope of WikiProject Japan", without a definite article before the name.

The parameter "TF_6_NESTED = Cinema" is duplicated. One should be deleted so that this template and all pages that use it do not appear on lists of pages or articles with CS1 errors. Thanks. Ira Leviton (talk) 14:58, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
