The characters of Laura Johnstone, Lyn Hutchinson, Ned Glover and Roy Glover also made their final appearances in this year. One of the most dominent exits from the year, excluding the award-winning exit of Butch, was the death of Sarah Sugden in November, which the public saw her die following her being involved in a barn fire. Lisa Riley also decided to quit the role of Mandy Dingle and was last seen in September after a tension-thrilling two-hander episode between her and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).
