I am not sure if this the correct format but I will try it. Please tell me why my links are inappropriate. prairie-towns.com is not a commercial website. I consider it a public service. I pay for it and do all of the work to enhance it. It seems to me that adding photos of a town is an addition to the wikipedia entry. But perhaps not. Why is a link to cemetary records better than a link to old photos? Dglglen (talk) 17:08, 8 September 2014 (UTC) Glen[reply]

As I already said, we don't permit link canvassing. Read the links in the warning message above. If you add the link again, you will be blocked from editing indefinitely as a spam-only account. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:09, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dglglen,
I can see that you added these links in good faith. It is just that Wikipedia takes quite a hard line on external links because otherwise we'd end up with far too many of them.
Have you considered uploading the photos to Wikimedia Commons? People on there like old photos. And once the photos are on there, you can add them in to Wikipedia articles.
