Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Virginia (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Variety (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Behind the Scenes Labyrinth.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

File:Princess do.jpg needs authorship information
[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:Princess do.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|Rachael89}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
- If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

Labyrinth
[edit]I see that you've done extensive work here and on Metropolis, and that's great. Extensive linking may be a problem is some cases, but I don't believe it is here, linking actors names in credits-type section seems perfectly reasonable. --Judgeking (talk) 20:57, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Bandstand Marathon Logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Bandstand Marathon Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:44, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Why inappropriate?
[edit]The image is credited. I took it on the set and the horse is a lead character in the story. There is no reason to remove it, it makes the article better. --Utahredrock (talk) 04:26, 30 January 2013 (UTC) (RE: Winter's Tale).
Disambiguation link notification for January 30

Your reversion
[edit]I didn't take it out because it was false, I took it out because there's no reason to believe it is more important than the remainder of her body of work. Please read WP:RECENTISM and consider removing it.—Kww(talk) 21:49, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for sharing the guidelines with me. I decided to take out the part about Winter's Tale but leave in the part about Noah. Noah is an important project for Connelly's career given that she hasn't appeared in a prominent role (she's the lead actress in Noah) in a film that's on wide-release for many years - it's also a big-budget studio film that sees her reunited with a director (Aronofsky) and star (Crowe) that worked with her in projects that proved pivotal to her career in the early 2000s. Personally, I feel those reasons are enough justification for leaving the reference to Noah in the lead-in. I have however taken out the reference to Winter's Tale, since it seemed like too much to dwell on that project given that it is on a smaller-scale and her role appears to be more secondary. File:Princess do.jpg missing description details
[edit]is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.
If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

September 2013
[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Labyrinth (film), may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
Do not re-insert the files again. Yes the files illustrate points made in the article, and make the article look better. However the requirements for WP:NFCC are far more strict. There isnt critical commentary about the contents of the images, and they fail WP:NFCC#1,3,&8. I would rather not, but if you continue to violate NFCC I will be forced to take this to ANI and seek administrative action for your repeated violations. Werieth (talk) 13:29, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Im tempted to give you a warning about WP:NPA for your comment [1]. Wikipedia's m:Mission is to provide free content, both in regards to free access and freely licensed content. 6 Non-free files for a single film, with nothing visually unique, and no critical commentary of the images goes against that mission. Why is not having File:Sendak.png detrimental to understanding the article as a whole? why couldn't you substitute it with File:Wizard title page.jpg? If you want I can break down every single image and explain why they are just decorative (which is prohibited by WP:NFCC) Werieth (talk) 13:46, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- I am upset - if I spoke out of term that's why and I'm sorry. As I explained, I invested a lot of time in the article and find the removal of the images upsetting. When I said the removal of the images was detrimental to the article, I meant it was detrimental to the aesthetics of the article - the images helped to break up the text and illustrate the points made therein (the Sendak file makes a far better point than an image of the Wizard of Oz book cover could, since it's a screencap from the film that shows most of the books that were discussed in the adjacent section - the WOZ book cover simply cannot perform the same function. The screencap helped illustrate the point since the books are only onscreen for a fleeting moment, and are very easy to miss). I understand why the images were removed, but I disagree with the policy and find that Wikipedia's policy's on the use of non-free images isn't clear enough (at least, not to myself). Please don't bother explaining why each image is wrong. I'm prepared to accept their removal and just want to move on and forget this. Rachael89 (talk) 13:57, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Rachael, I'm another experienced editor here on Wikipedia that is hoping to appeal to your better self. I would love to be able to convince you to come back, and wish to inform you that I've done some searching and have transfered some CC-BY-SA 2.0 images from flikr to commons: for use in this article and hope that you take advantage of this. I've categorized all of these images and you can find them at commons:Category:Labyrinth_(film). I'll watch your talk page here for a bit, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Happy editing! Technical 13 (talk) 12:06, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your hard work in adding those to CC, but I don't think I want to use them on the page. There are several reasons - 1.) I can see on the Labyrinth talk page that a user has contested their CC status, and has essentially threatened their imminent removal, 2.) Since all of the images are of a similar nature (all depicting the film's characters, all firmly rooted in the 'world' of the film, nothing from behind the scenes or after the film's release) it would be excessive to use them all in the article since it would be difficult to justify their use. I'll continue making occasional changes to the text and making updates when needed, but I'm not going to do anything to images on the page. It's simply been a source of too much distress and I don't want to upload images only to see them removed. Rachael89 (talk) 13:14, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- I'm glad to see you have come back and haven't completely given up, I was fairly convinced by myself that wasn't going to be the case. I am neutral in the actual use of those images, and am actually fairly neutral in whether or not they are kept or deleted. I would be happy to try and find some more "out of world" images if you like, and as a side note, feel free to {{Ping|Technical 13}} on any talk page and I'd be happy to offer my help or opinion or you may leave me messages on my talk page or via email. Happy editing! Technical 13 (talk) 14:08, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
