WAC soccer standings

The method for resolving standings order is found on page 16 of the 2015 WAC Media Guide: 2015 WAC Media Guide. I could not find a newer edition than 2015, but in my experience, these particular tiebreakers are used almost universally for soccer by NCAA conferences, and there is no reason to believe that the criteria have changed. Winning percentage plays no role in resolving standings order. To determine the order between Seattle and UNLV, the following steps apply:
- Points: Seattle 18 (5*3 + 3*1), UNLV 18 (6*3). This primary criterion results in a two-way tie (no other WAC teams have exactly 18 points at this time), so the first step of tiebreaking procedure is used.
- Head-to-head competition: UNLV defeated Seattle 2–1 in 2OT on 29 October. UNLV wins this tiebreaker.
Result: UNLV outranks Seattle.
You are correct that the WAC page currently lists Seattle above UNLV, but this is not relevant to the ultimate determination of standings order. These standings are published automatically by the WAC's content management system, whose criteria for ordering teams on the standings page are incorrect beyond the primary criterion of points. A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.
