Nelson Mandela Bridge

The Nelson Mandela Bridge was completed in 2003 with a R38 million price tag. The proposal for the bridge was to link up two main business areas of Braamfontein and Newtown as well as to rejuvenate and to a certain level modernize the inner city, which is an initiative by a company, Blue IQ. The bridge was constructed over 42 railway lines without disturbing railway traffic and is 284 metres long.

There are two pylons, North and South, and are 42 and 27 metres respectively. Engineers tried to keep the bridge as light as possible and used a structural steel with a concrete composite deck to keep weight down. Heavier banks along the bridge were reinforced by heavier back spans. The bridge consists of two lanes and has pedestrian walk-ways on either side. The bridge can be viewed from one of Johannesburg’s most popular roads, the M1 highway.

Of recent times it has been known the many copper wiring has been stolen from the bridge which has causes tighter security measures, including full 24-hour video surveillance of the bridge.

RadioFreeMerrick History:
RadioFreeMerrick is a weekly pirate radio station1 in the New York City surburb of Merrick, NY2 (pop. 22,000+). Their pirate callsign is 'WJOE' 'The Voice of the Youth of Merrick'. They operate between 89.x Mhz.

WJOE began on-air pirate broadcasting on July 6th, 2007 on 89.3 Mhz FM. The signal was heard from the southern-most tip of south-Merrick, north only to the Merrick Ave. Junior High School due to their signal being 'stepped on' from a Hempstead, NY Jamician-music Pirate operating on the same frequency.

RadioFreeMerrick Pirate DJ's:
The 'station' appears to be operated on a community-level. The main 'Pirates' of the station are:
DJ Johnny Fever': An former-pirate radio operator who ran a pirate station in Merrick, N.Y. during the mid-1990s when he himself was just a youth.
His nephew 'DJ Joey'.
His niece DJ 'Old Rock Sam' and her friends intermittenly MC'ing on the show.

RadioFreeMerrick Music:
WJOE plays a strange mix of music. Bands and music from the 1960s thru today are routinely played. The 'playlist' has inlcuded Alternative music, The Beatles, Korn, Hip-Hop, Smashing Pumplins, T-pain, Biggy Smalls, Oasis, Rave/Techno music, as well as 'The Jerkey Boys' soundtracks to name a few.

They appear to go on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights after 8:00PM. They have been heard on 89.1-FM; 89.3-FM; and 89.7-FM.

RadioFreeMerrick Sign-Off:
The station ALWAYS signs-off the air by playing 'God Bless America' by Kate Smith. This would seem to mimic the sign-off ending of the late 770-AM WABC 'The John Batchelor Show' which was a world-renowned Geo-Terrorism-Political show that aired from Sept. 2001 - Sept. 20064.

RadioFreeMerrick Signal Coverage: How far can they be heard when their signal is on a clear channel and not 'stepped on'? Calhoun Hign School south to Club House Rd. and East Bay Court.

Founded by Antonio Fernandez (° 1981 Almeria, SPAIN) and picked up by Eduardo Saucedo(° 1983 Mexico City, MEXICO) and Hilde Vandeneeckhaut (° 1979 Aalst, BELGIUM) who elaborated the theory. Taken shape: in summer of iron age time of 2006 in Velje (an unpronounceable city: to be pronounced as VAILE) on the mainland in Denmark. It was hanging ‘in the air’ before but materialized in 2006 Some confusion exists whether this is a ‘religious stream’ or a ‘life –philosophy’. The founders of this theory consider it more like a ‘life –philosophy’ or an appropriate ‘way of living’. There is no worshipping of god(s) or powerful sources are excluded. According the square –theory: behaviour of human kind can be divided in two sorts of custody. Either you can be inside or ‘outside - the - square’. But being ‘outside - the - square’ is considered as a superior state of level. At first sight this classification looks very simple. But the theory is one of an extremely complexity and can never be truly understand by ‘insiders’. It can be compared with walking an unknown path which changes from direction all the time. It has undiscovered dimensions which are situated on an upper levels. Being ‘outside - the - square’ is to reach a state of doing the imaginable. Inside or ‘outside - the - square’: a matter of nature or nurture?: The founders believe that either the ‘two states of being’ (read: inside or outside) lean more to the nature side, although the environment can have a main influence on the behaviour of people. An ‘‘outside - the - square’-person’ which has been born and nurtured in an ‘inside the square - environment will show less aspects of outsider behaviour. On the contrary ‘outside - the - square’ people who have been raised in an ‘outside - the - square’ environment (although this occurs not frequently) can never show aspects of ‘inside behaviour’. Some people from ‘inside the square’ may balance at the border of the square and therefore they can see the light of the square-tunnel. But when one might think that you can reach the other side of the square, one can be mistaken. The square becomes just a bigger square but people relegate further from the middle. We emphasize again the complexity of this theory. If you are an outsider: explanation of this theory is not necessary because by just mentioning the word ‘square’ the theory reveals itself like a vision. The square implies also triangles. When people ‘outside - the - square’ are in a same place they have the tendency to appear in triangles. When one triangle of outsiders arise: more triangles appear at the panorama. Outsiders can be easily recognized by other outsiders and can not be recognized by insiders. How to try to recognize an outsider when you are an insider? The outsiders are mostly more-beautiful - than - the – aliens (which is difficult to discriminate) and insiders get easily the inclination to get irritated by outsiders. How to know that you are an outsider? You know! Believe us! You will see the signal and if you are not seeing the signal you are going to another life! (repeating this sentence constantly like a chanti can bring you in a kind of trance and can bring you close to a state of outside the square. Examples of themes which have been discussed outside - the - square are: gnomes, whales in rivers, t-rex sounds, sniffing Danish with consumption disorders, cannibal -vegetarians, devices, water hoses, cows with cameras, phallic games and robots. Drugs like alcohol (preferably: ‘Gammal Dansk’ 35 % also consumed as ‘Danish shit’ or öl) and little frogs which can be licked and ‘polskitos: non effective’ are permitted. Symbols of this philosophy are (understandable): squares, triangles appearing in squares. There are no such things as patriotic symbols because this theory is universal and not allied to one country. Patriotic feelings about your land of origin are prohibited. Therefore it is allowed or even recommended to steal other countries flags. Favourite song of members: The locomotion People who get fascinated by this theory can not apply for a membership. It is not the goal of the founders to get a lot of followers or to decide who can be a follower or not. People can decide intuitively themselves if they are outside or inside. Therefore we cannot tell the percentage of people who are outside the square in this world.

Anoushka is a character from ancient Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Sisyphus and Aegina. Sisyphus was punished in the underworld to roll a huge boulder up a hill throughout eternity. Hence, the couple found it rather hard to conceive a child as Sisyphus was rather preoccupied with the whole rock-rolling bit. The Oracle of Delphi advised Aegina to offer sacrifices to Eros at Mount Olympus. So Aegina offered many sacrifices of unsuspecting goats to appease Eros. Eros was very moved by the dedication of Aegina, and blessed her with the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Aegina named her Anoushka, derived from Ioanna, meaning God's gift. When Aegina confronted Sisyphus with the good news he was overjoyed. In fact he was so elated that he forgot about the rock - and ended up very flat. Anoushka, later went on to rule over Greece.

Shmuel Silberman is an American educator, holding a teaching position at the Maimonides School in Boston. Professionally, Silberman teaches high school classes on Torah and he provides specialized help to students with special needs through the school's learning center. Silberman is most notable, however, for his work as Boston's most recognized counter-missionary activist and organizer. He is a prolific lecturer on the topic, and he frequents Jewish and political events to spread his cause. He also publishes articles and biblical commentary through his website.

In recent years, individuals and governments have become concerned about the possible increased threat of terrorism in new and dangerous forms. Yet traditional military establishments and institutions have focused primarily on traditional threats and have only slowly refocused on ethnic, religious, and economic factors that may now motivate terrorist actions. Among these factors are environmental conditions and resources that may be tools or targets of terrorists. This has led to a new discussion of “environmental terrorism.” An examination of environmental terrorism requires understanding the links among population growth, resource use (including water, energy, soils, and more), and environmental conditions such as climate, human health, and well-being. As populations grow, the existing resource base is being stretched to provide for more people, and is being consumed at a faster rate. As the value and vulnerability of these resources increases, so does their attractiveness as terrorist targets.

Environmental security scholars know that a strong argument can be made for linking certain resource and environmental problems with the prospects for political tension, or even war and peace (Gleick, 1993, Schwartz 1998, Gleick 1998, Baechler 1999, Leitzmann and Vest 1999, The Gilmore Commission 2000). History shows that access to resources has been a proximate cause of war, resources have been both tools and targets of war, and environmental degradation and disparity in the distribution of resources can cause major political controversy, tension, and violence. (See, for example, the chronology of water-related conflicts from 2500 BC to the present: ^[1])

Defining Environmental Terrorism

There are academic and semantic difficulties in defining “terrorism” and specifically “environmental terrorism.” But discussions of environmental terrorism are growing, with a focus on identifying possible risks to natural resource or environmental features. Some (see Chalecki 2001), including some in the military (see Butts et al. 2003) argue that attacks on natural resources can now cause more deaths, property damage, political chaos, and other adverse effects than in previous years.

Chalecki distinguishes between environmental terrorism and eco-terrorism. She notes that environmental terrorism can be defined “as the unlawful use of force against in situ environmental resources so as to deprive populations of their benefit(s) and/or destroy other property.” In contrast, eco-terrorism is the violent destruction of property in the interest of saving the environment from human encroachment and destruction (San Francisco Chronicle, July 1, 2001, page A10). More concisely, environmental terrorism involves targeting natural resources. Eco-terrorism involves targeting the built environment such as roads, buildings and trucks, ostensibly in defense of natural resources. Other analysts may fail to distinguish between these different threats (see, for example, ^[2].

Alan ward was born in 1987 in Lethbridge Alberta, he attended Elementary school at lakeview, elementary school, and was home school by his mom for grades 7-9. This allowed him to focus on his studys and although it developed good studying skills, he was never able to develop his cultural capital to that of a normal level. One example of this is in grade 7 when he told another young man that he "wanted his body". which of course was his way of saying you have attractive attributes. But was percieved by the other children to mean alan was gay.

This was a hard time in alans life, but he percivered and eventually got past this social barrier and started to develop his social skills. this was the first part to his eventual success in filmography. As alan went through school he soon realized he was very interested in writing and movies in general. This lead to him going to the University of Lethbridge where he primariyl studied writing and filmography. During his time off he currently works for his dad at Wards Rentals and for Convergys.

Diaoyudao Islands

Diaoyudao Islands are located 92 sea miles northeast of China's Keelung City of Taiwan. The islands are part of the islands attached to the island of the Province of Taiwan, China. Diaoyudao Islands include Diaoyu Island, Huangwai Island, Chiwei Island, Nanxiao Island, Beixiao Islands and some rocks.

Diaoyudao Islands has been Chinese terrotories since ancient times. Together with Taiwan, Diaoyudao Islands are inalienable part of China's territories. China has the undisputable sovereignty over Diaoyudao Islands. China's sovereignty over these islands has sufficient historical and legal basis.

As early as the early Ming Dynasty, Diaoyudao Islands had been clearly incorporated into China's territories. Both Ming and Qing Dynasties of China designated Diaoyudao Islands as part of the sea defense area. In 1895, seeing that China would lose the First Sino-Japanese War, Japan put these islands under the jurisdiction of Okinawa three months before the signing of the Shimonnoseki Treaty. In December 1943, the Cairo Communique issued jointly by China, United States and U.K. made it clear that Japan must return Northeast China, Taiwan, Penghu Islands and other the territories it took away by force from China. The Potsdam Proclamation of 1945 stated that the conditions laid out in the Cairo Communique must be implemented. In August 1954, Japan accepted the Potsdam Proclamation and declared unconditional surrender. This means that Japan must return Taiwan and its attached islands to China. However in 1951, Japan and the United States signed San Francisco Peace Treay which entrusted Diaoyudao Islands and Okinawa to be administered by the United States. The Premier and foreign Minster of the Peoples Republis of China Zhou Enlai declared on behalf of the government of China that the San Francisco Peace Accord is null in invalid since it excluded the participation of China. China does not recognize such accord and deem it illegal. On June 17, 1971, Japan and the United States signed the agreement on handing over Okinawa to Japan and Diaoyudao Islands werer included in the agreement. In response to this, the government of the People's Republic of China made a strong statement condeming the inclusion of the Diaoyudao Islands in the terrirories to be handed over to Japan. Later, the US State Department spokesman stated that the returning of the administrative right of Okinawa to Japan does not affect the sovereignty issue of Diaoyudao Islands.

Muslims obey or submit to Allah (God_. The name Allah comes from an Arabic term, 'al-El', which means 'the God'. Muslims follow the teaching of Mohammed, who was prophet or holy messenger of Allah. Muslims believe that Mohammed was the last of a series of prophets that included Abraham, Moses and Jesus. Mohammed was also the first ruler of Islam. The Qu'ran is the holy book of Islam. Many Muslims believe it is the word of Allah, just as many Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. THe place where Muslims worship and pray is a mosque.

None of the films for which Vasallo wrote music (according to IMDb) have Wikipedia articles. I would reject this outright, except for the fact that he did indeed win a musical competition at California State University East Bay and was interviewed as a result, giving us a verifiable claim of notability and a reasonably reliable source. I have been researching and editing this article as well, while most of the articles mention the composer in passing; this is common seeing as the post-production side of Film and TV generally receives the least amount of recognition. All of the organizations/companies/schools/plays/band links (external) have Vasallo contributing musically. The Life Ethics link [1] verifies his musical involvement with the Planned Parenthood film and does the actual video [2],

Nicholas Roy Vasallo (b. October 28, 1979 in Oakland, California USA) is an Asian American composer, guitarist, singer, and music theory writer. He is best known for his use of "Eclecticism" in his compositions as well as the inescapable darkness within his music. He was the guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the American heavy metal band Antagony [4]. Vasallo mainly plays guitar and sings but has been known to play/improvise on the piano. As a young film composer [5], he has received recognition for his scores in both Film and Television [6][7]. Nick Vasallo is currently completing his DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) at University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) [8] with a specialization in World Music [9].

Biography

Early Years

Vasallo was raised from a quite unmusical family; neither of his parents were musicians. His father, Ricardo Vasallo, is a Filipino Certified Public Accountant and his mother, Shu-Yun Vasallo, is a Taiwanese landscape designer. Nevertheless, Vasallo's father was a music aficionado and introduced Nick to music at a young age [10] which sparked the composer's passion for the art. As a child he had a proclivity towards Art and won several awards from Elementary School through Middle School. He also excelled in English & Mathematics and consequently was sent to G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) [11] at the age of 8. In high school, Vasallo found his musical calling after learning how to play the guitar. Around the same time he was diagnosed with hypomania and received therapy throughout his young adulthood. During his early years in college, Vasallo was indecisive and had little if no direction with his (academic) life; he majored in Psychology, Liberal Arts, Business, and Computer Science. It wasn't until the age of 23 when he decided to go with his passion and dedicate his life to music.[12]

Musical Training and Performance

His autodidactic early musical training and his first compositions began as a teenager playing guitar and singing in heavy metal and punk bands. Vasallo spent his young adulthood (1998-2006) touring around the United States with his band Antagony, playing with such acts as Dying Fetus, Grimple, Dystopia, Fang, Grave, Goatwhore, Brujeria, Cattle Decapitation, Benumb, The Locust, Job For A Cowboy, Suicide Silence, Immolation, Animosity, Malevolent Creation, Incantation, Skinless, Disgorge, Excruciating Terror, Pig Destroyer, and Sworn Vengence. Antagony's influence in the California Bay Area Metal Scene was substantial; their dark sound, evolutionary forms and mixing of genres was widely imitated. Members of Antagony went on to join and start other bands such as Hacksaw to the Throat, All Shall Perish, and Suffokate. Vasallo's formal musical training did not begin until the age of 23 at California State University East Bay [13] in Hayward, where he studied Music Theory, Harmony, Compostion, Counterpoint, Form and Anaylsis with composers: Frank LaRocca, Jeffrey Miller, and Rafael Hernandez [14]. Vasallo was a prolific composer during his years at Cal State and even composed music for movies while writing for the university as well as his band, Antagony. He draws inspiration from The Bible, movies, nature, stories, images, and most of all: his personal life. Vasallo's musical influences are wide in musical spectrum; Carlo Gesualdo, The Beatles, Beethoven, Radiohead, Bernard Herrmann, eldopa, Cannibal Corpse, Brian Wilson, Taiko, South-African Cuban percussion, Nirvana, Bartok, Liszt, Bach, Black Metal, Grindcore, Doom and noise. Musical Style - Eclecticism

Vasallo's education in Western Classical Music, Heavy Metal, Film Music, Electronica, and World Music enabled him to develop a unique voice in today's Classical Music world. His music has garnered several awards; both in the Classical, Film Music and Rock & Roll venues. Notable Awards: Best Release of 2000 Antagony's "Expect the Worst" [17] - KSJS radio 90.5 FM, New Jersey International Film Festival [18] Selection "Sinful" [19] musical score, 2007 CSUEB Choral Composers Competition [20]. Vasallo's method of bridging the gaps between serious music and popular music is the element within his music that defines his style. "Eclecticism" is a term Vasallo has used to define his style. He draws upon a variety of influences but finds a way to make them meld naturally. The difference between with what Vasallo does and with what Phil Collins does is the target audience. Vasallo's music is not just for the average listener but can be appeciated by a trained musician of whatever style he may be using at that moment. Eclecticism is becoming a strong movement primarly because of today's technological advances with communication (World Wide Web). Musicians have access to music from all over the world and from the last 2000 years. With the musical software available today, almost anyone can create music at home and instantly share it with millions. Even though Vasallo's music is performed across the country, his public appearances have been sparse since he stopped performing live with his Heavy Metal band of 7 years, Antagony in 2007.

Film, Television and Media

Vasallo's work in Film and Television has earned him some notoriety; his soundtrack for Planned Parenthood's now banned video on Pro-Choice, "A Superhero For Choice" [21][22], created a stir in the Summer of 2005 [23] and shutdown his website [24]) for a week after exceeding his allowed bandwidth, earned a mention in the New York Times and CNN [25], and was blogged in hundreds of Conservative websites. Vasallo was the original composer for Design Storm/Storytime Picture's TV show "Iron Kid" [26] (original USA version) which is now a big CGI (Computer-generated imagery) hit playing on major networks in Korea, United States of America, Spain, France, and throughout Europe. His most recent soundtrack for the feature "Duplicity" premiered at United Artists Emery Bay in October 2006. [27]. Vasallo's score for the psychological thriller "Sinful" greatly added to the emotional depth of the film and earned a New Jersey International Film Festival Best Film nomination [28][29][30].

Fantasy Movie (2008), a film directed by Adam Mosquito, is a comedy-gross-out film spoof that parodies the fantasy and sci/fi genres. Several late-1990s and 2000's movies are spoofed, including the more subtle fantasy film parody series Harry Potter trilogy, Lord Of The Rings, The Wiazard of Oz, Star Wars, Bridge To Terebithia, and other references to similar films. This film will be a national straight-to-dvd release.

Mammaw's Revenge Films Mammaw's Revenge is an independent film company based out of Warwick, Rhode Island. It is run by Dan Carrara, who directs, edits and writes most of the movies. In the summer of 2006, they reached a deal with COX representatives and were granted a late night television time slot with PATV18 on Sunday Nights. They have since shifted their focus from the television show to making full length movies.

The Beginning

In the year 2003, Mammaw's Revenge began, going under the name "Random Acts of Violence" Productions. The company was even smaller then Mammaw's, and focused on "Jackass" or "CKY" influenced material. They changed the name to Mammaw's Revenge and began to try different types of movies and skits.

Dollar Hat Era

From the year 2004-05, Mammaw's Revenge began producing their skits and films under the label of "Dollar Hat", which was supposed to indicate a certain group of actors in the films, most notably Ed Smith, Dan Carrara, Al Biastre, and Justin Van Goor. During this time, Mammaw's Revenge made the film "The Justin Van Goor" story, and continued to film "Jackass" influenced skits, which sometimes got the group into trouble.

The Inmate Era

After many of the actors and writers that made the "Dollar Hat" era so unique left Mammaw's to pursue other things, Carrara was forced to find a new team of actors, and found them in Ryan Holmes, Tom Heston, Justin Maccarone, Jarod Blanchette, among others. Their first film together was a short skit entitled "Paranoid", though primitive to current works, "Paranoid" showcased the group's chemistry together, and debuted an important character, Yagoo. Played by Ryan Holmes, Yagoo became a popular character and the face of Mammaw's Revenge for the latter part of 2005. Yagoo was featured on T-Shirts, made appearances in almost every skit or movie, and was even granted his own movie "Yagoo". Rumours began to surface that "Yagoo" the movie would be made into a trilogy, but only the first movie was made, which explained Yagoo's origin. The group then began focusing on what became their longest film to date, "The Inmates", a mafia-style movie which also featured Yagoo, and echoed the story told in "Yagoo". The Inmate Era also brought Mammaw's to television.

Binayak Bandyopadhyay is one of the most promising Bengali poets of the current generation. Born in Calcutta, India, this young poet has made his mark on modern Bengali Literature with his thoughtful and incisive analysis of the socio-economic imbalance, the contradictions of the middle class, man and his spiritituality and the (in)significance of the individual in the cauldron of life, against a backdrop of innovative poetic forms and structure.

Binayak won the prestigious Krittibas Puroshkar, and has three published books of poetry, mostly from the noted Ananda Publishers, and is a regular on the pages of the literary magazine Desh and various little magazines of West Bengal.

Harry R. Wilkens is a poet born 1945 in the French-American garrison-town Kaiserslautern, Germany, nicknamed "K-Town" by the GIs. He is often mistaken for Harry Wilkens, a German musician and bandleader. Wilkens published several chapbooks including The Hit Man (also in Arabic), Terre Promise, Zombies (bilingual), Pig's Hell, Un autre monde, Abyss (English/Greek), the first two versions of Piss Talks - anti-war poems which became cult and which were published in English/Korean under the title Venereal Disease. In 1997, along with others, he founded the Docker Movement for free, non-adademic poetry accessible to everybody and was the editor of the Dockernet newsletter. He has is own column "Harry Talks" in the South-Korean website http://www.artforumasia.com . Some of his poetry can be seen under http://www.the-hold.com . Most Ballin Productions

Most ballin productions, or MBP, is the name of the video group created by Nick Oliveira and Steven Juker of Visalia, California. Dalton Griswold and Ian Montierth are make up the rest of the group while Will Burns is the camera man and idea giver. "Will Work For Food" is MBP's first video. It was created in april 2007. It was edited at El Diamante High School where all members of MBP attend, though Will recently graduated. The rest of the members will be entering their junior year in august 2007 when new videos will be made.

"Will Work For Food" is MBP's first, and as of july 2007, only video. It tells the story of a homeless man who does things for two kids promising McDonalds in return. Fans

MBP has gained many fans considering they have not been in existence very long. Most fans live in and around Visalia, Califronis and are friends of the members. However, MBP has gained popularity on Myspace and gained fans from all over the country, even Canada. They hope to be on the same level as Smosh, another very popular video group, eventully.
