The result was keep. Nobody except the nominator supports deletion, even if many of the "keep" opinions are rather perfunctory. There may be a case for a merger, but that discussion can and should be had on the article talk page. Sandstein 14:08, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Hamas has abducted over 250 individuals. The article does not state why the individual is notable enough for a specific article about their kidnapping in particular. نعم البدل (talk) 15:22, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

- Merge to Israel–Hamas war hostage crisis. News coverage on its own is routine primary coverage and does not meet WP:GNG. If the target page becomes too long, we have the option to WP:SIZESPLIT to List of kidnappings in the 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel or something similar. - Keep. The event under discussion clearly meets the notability criteria set by WP:GNG due to its extensive, global coverage in numerous reliable sources. This is not just a passing news story, but a subject that has been continually covered over an extended period, indicating its significance and impact. The kidnapping of the individual in question has been the focus of detailed reporting by major news outlets, which goes beyond routine news reporting and demonstrates enduring notability. For instance, recent articles like the one from The Times of Israel, [1] highlight the ongoing relevance and public interest in this case. Such sustained coverage underscores the historical and societal importance of the event, aligning perfectly with Wikipedia's notability standards. Marokwitz (talk) 21:19, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Keep. While I agree we shouldn't create pages for every hostage taken by Hamas, this is clearly a notable case that has received significant coverage in global media. Eladkarmel (talk) 14:53, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Keep as there is a significant degree of coverage unique to that person. While the main article is good for the encyclopaedic purpose of covering the event, individual kidnappings may still meet the requirements for inclusion. To over-exaggerate, if a movie star had been kidnapped, a separate article may have been created to allow for full coverage; while this is obviously an exaggeration and some kidnapped persons are definitely not notable enough for separate article, this one clearly is. *Keep, as this page has 20 good sources and has coverage that has spread worldwide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.11.113 (talk) 21:36, 28 January 2024 (UTC) Strike out due to WP:ARBPIA WP:ECP Marokwitz (talk) 06:21, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Keep. It's true that we can't create a Wikipedia page for every hostage, but the particular ones that have been widely covered in the media meet the WP:GNG critera as Marokwitz indicates. Hogo-2020 (talk) 09:02, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Keep, page has enough sourcing to be it's own article. Davidgoodheart (talk) 17:20, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Keep Wish it wasn't the case but does more than enough to satisfy WP:GNG MaskedSinger (talk) 12:55, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- Keep Enough sources on it to have a page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chekidalum (talk • contribs) 11:34, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
