The result was keep. Consensus after the addition of some possible sources to this AFD is that sufficient sources are available to establish notability. These sources do need adding to the article. Davewild (talk) 10:00, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DELETE. Did I just read that right, this WP:BLP has gone on unsourced since September 2007 and has yet to be deleted? How does that happen, exactly. Google News Archives returns no more than 4 unique matches, none of which appear to be reach the level of significant coverage I would expect for any biography. Fail.   • Comment. The news stories on Google news (not the best place to find Dutch news stories, it must be said) indicate that he has some minor celebrity as a contemporary composer and slightly more as a wikipedian (founder and first president of the Dutch wikipedia association, a former member of the board of trustees of the wikimedia foundation). Only one of the articles was really substantially about him; another quotes him in a story about wikipedia; another is an interview with a musician, whose concert was going to include a piece by van Dillen. I don't know enough about the scene to say whether he'd meet WP:MUSIC. --Paularblaster (talk) 02:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nah. I can't read Dutch per se, but between the cognates and other key words, you're right about the coverage. I think the fact that the Dutch WP doesn't have an article on him is telling, though. I'm afraid you're wrong there: nl:Oscar van Dillen. Though he may not be the second coming of Mozart, I'd say he's notable as a modern composer, at least in the Netherlands. Wutsje (talk) 11:26, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If Cybele and Etcetera are substantial labels in the contemporary classical world then he meets WP:MUSIC; if not then he might meet some other criterium of notability, but I don't immediately see what it would be. Not everyone uses their full name in their user name, and it would be inappropriate for us to retitle the article to "Oscar" just because that's apparently the only name you know him by. ;) Lara 00:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - I added some data from the nl-wikipedia article. The guy even was nominated for the Dutch equivalent of the movie Oscar in NL. If he would not have been on the wm board no one would perhaps even doubt his notability <sigh>. He can't help he was on that board but he *is* quite a notable composer and musician.
