Etymology
[edit]From Middle Persian *sḵbʾk' (/*sikbāg/) (whence Persian سکبا (sekbâ)), a compound of [script needed] (sḵ /sik/, “vinegar”) + *bʾk' (/bāg/, “soup”) equivalent to Persian سک (sek, “vinegar”) + با (bâ, “soup”)).
