Etymology
[edit]Borrowed into Old Anatolian Turkish from Persian پلاو (pelâv, palâv), from Sanskrit पुलाक (pulāka), which is probably of Dravidian origin.[1] Akin to Tamil புறுக்கல் (puṟukkal, “cooked rice”).
