[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *čayna- (“to chew”);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani çeynɘmɘk, Kazakh шайнау (şainau), Kyrgyz чайноо (caynoo), Salar çenegüsi, Turkmen çeýnemek and Uzbek chaynamoq.

- (transitive) to chew, masticate, champ, to crush with the teeth by repeated closing and opening of the jaws
