I added this term, but would like to see some citations nonetheless. Just out of curiosity. --Ruedanton 00:19, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added a good citation. It isn't too hard to find others. Robert Ullmann 13:43, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

[edit]

Does anyone know the pronunciation for "gwine"? This has stumped me ever since I was a kid reading the Brer Rabbit stories. Is "gwine" simply pronounced the same as "gonna"? Or is it really supposed to indicate a long I sound, as the spelling would seem to indicate? And if the latter, who in the world pronounces it that way???
