Where is the evidence for the the SNL origin? I know there was some, but I can't find it. Snopes claims to have an excerpt from a news conference dated 29 March 2001, in which W says "Those who think that they can say, "We're only going to have a stimulus package, but let's forget tax relief," misunderestimate . . . or, excuse me, underestimate -- just making sure you were paying attention -- underestimate our administration's resolve to get this done . . ." but if this is after the SNL episode it might well be deliberate. -dmh 03:18, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

FWIW, Bush apparently first used the term publicly on 2000-11-06, when he said "They misunderestimated me." I think this should probably be added as a quotation in the main entry. 8.46.40.253 15:14, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Bushism

I find that it should be mentioned in the article that this is a bushism. It's a famous word, and many of the Wikipedia readers who come to this page will be interested in checking the connection to the not so eloquent president.
