abstract |
Dialkyl malonates (I) are prepd. by reaction of alkyl haloacetates with CO in presence of a Co cpd. metal alcoholate or a soln. of an alkali hydroxide in an alcohol at pH =8.5. (I) are obtd. economically in a one-step process; the alcohol aused as solvents is recycled in a closed circuit; excess CO may be reused without scrubbing of CO2; pollution by noxious residues (e.g. CN-) is reduced. (I) are useful as chemical inters, e.g. for pharmaceuticals. |
