titleOfInvention METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A PRODUCT LIKE A MONO FIBER AND A PRODUCT
abstract The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a monofilament-like product from a precursor comprising at least one strand of fibers obtained from ultrahigh molar polyethylene, comprising a) exposing the precursor to a temperature within the melting range of the polyethylene for a period of time sufficient at least for partial melting of adjacent fibers, and b) simultaneous stretching of the precursor, where during the melting of the precursor is subjected to mechanical compression . The thus obtained product, similar to monofilament, is characterized by the appearance of a smoother surface and improved abrasion resistance, for example, a reduced tendency to peeling during use as fishing line, in comparison with known similar products, which makes it suitable for use as a fishing line fishing line and the like. In addition, the invention relates to a monofilament-like product manufactured in accordance with the aforementioned method, and to semi-finished products and end-use products including said monofilament-like product.
