1355927 Making metal foils by vapour deposition AIRCO Inc 23 Aug 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 39224/72 Heading C7F A metal foil is made by coating a substrate, e.g. an endless belt or drum of stainless steel, with a fluoride of Li, Ca, Na, Mg, Sr or Ba, heating the substrate to at least 800K, vapour depositing a metal on the fluoride, and removing the condensed material. The fluoride may also be applied by vapour deposition. In examples the metal may be an alloy of Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-5Al- 2À5 Sn, Ni-19 Cr-10 Si, Ni-15 Cr-5Al, Cu-23 Mn-9 Ni. |
