abstract 1367207 Polyacrylic ester derivatives of heterocyclic ketones CIBA-GEIGY AG 14 Jan 1972 [15 Jan 1971 14 June 1971] 1911/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula in which each R 1 and R 2 is H or CH 3 , n is 2 or 3 and A is a radical containing at least one grouping in which Z completes a 5-membered or 6- membered ring; and their production by reacting acrylic and/or methacrylic acid with a compound Z may be of one of the following formulµ in which R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>1</SP> 1 , R<SP>111</SP> and R<SP>1111</SP> are hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or optionally substituted phenyl, and X is CH 2 = CR 1 .COOCH 2 - CR 2 (OH)CH 2 -. Suitable types of glycidyl starting materials, giving corresponding products, are of the formulµ in which R 2 and R 2 <SP>1</SP> are H or CH 3 , R 3 and R 4 are H or C 1-4 alkyl, or R 3 and R 4 are together (CH 2 ) 4 or (CH 2 ) 5 ; in which R 5 and R 6 are H or C 1-4 alkyl; in which R 7 and R 8 are H or alkyl and R 9 and R 10 are H or C 1-4 alkyl; in which R 3 and R 5 are H or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical, R 4 , R 6 and R 7 are H or alkyl, or R 3 and R 4 together form a divalent aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, and n is 1 or 2; in which Y 1 is H or CH 3 and Y 2 is H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 or C 6 H 5 , or Y 1 + Y 2 are together (CH 2 ) 3 or (CH 2 ) 4 ; in which R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are H or C 1-4 alkyl, or R 3 + R 4 or R 5 + R 6 are together (CH 2 ) 4 or (CH 2 ) 5 ; in which B is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic radical, R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are H or C 1-4 alkyl, or R 3 + R 4 and/or R 5 + R 6 are together (CH 2 ) 4 or (CH 2 ) 5 ; in which R 7 , R 8 , R 9 and R 10 are H or C 1-4 alkyl; in which Y 1 and Y 2 are H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 or C 6 H 5 , Z 1 and Z 2 are as defined for Z, D is the hydrocarbon radical of a dicarboxylic acid and n is 1 or 2.
