PURPOSE: To produce an epoxy compound having excellent resistance to an organic acid, by reacting a specified compound with an epoxidizing agent. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (wherein n is 5W10,000) is obtained by reacting lithium diisopropylamide with divinylbenzene in the presence of diisopropylamine in an aprotic polar solvent. This compound is reacted with an epoxidizing agent (e.g., perbenzoic acid) in such an amount as to provide a molar ratio of the epoxidizing agent to the double bonds of the compound of 0.03W3 at -50W150°C for 10minW48hr in 100mlW50l, per mol of the epoxidizing agent, of a solvent (e.g., chloroform) to replace epoxy groups for 1W100% of the vinyl groups in the compound of formula I and obtain an epoxy compound comprising repeating units of formula II and/or formula III. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
