titleOfInvention Growth of tubular crystalline bodies
abstract The invention is a method and apparatus for producing composite materials and monocrystalline capillary tubes. Monocrystalline bodies of a material such as alumina are grown from a melt about small diameter, high temperature wires or filaments so as to form high strength composites. The small wires or filaments may be removed from the composites so as to leave monocrystalline bodies with capillary size openings therein.
