abstract The described compounds of the general formula A, in which the wavy lines mean alpha and beta configuration and R1 and R2 mean hydrogen, methyl or ethyl groups <IMAGE> A are new and useful as odorants or components or mixtures of odorants or perfume oils. Their production in a method known per se, involves oxidation of isolongifolene obtained from longifolene to isolongifolane, which is then equilibrated with base extraction and/or reduced to isolongifolan-3-ol and this is then reacted with a symmetric acetal of the formula R2-OCHR1-O-R2, in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2 is methyl, ethyl or propyl.
