Disclosed is a method for producing a hydrogen-containing gas, especially a hydrogen-containing gas for fuel cells, wherein a hydrocarbon which is in a liquid state at room temperature and pressure or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon each having 5 or more carbon atoms is modified. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a hydrogen-containing gas, which is characterized in that a hydrocarbon which is in a liquid state at room temperature and pressure or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon each having 5 or more carbon atoms is modified by using a catalyst containing at least one noble metal element selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd, Ir, Rh and Ru, in addition to Ni, Mg and Al. |
