AHCA Education: Interested in an Apprenticeship Partnership?

AHCA/NCAL is partnering with Equus Workforce Solutions to offer long term care apprenticeship programs. The goal is to get more people engaged in the long term care profession as it battles a workforce crisis. The AHCA/NCAL and Equus collaboration will help to support the development and expansion of Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) that can potentially impact our long term care provider members and those they serve in the future.  ​

How to Prepare your Facility for Surge

This course was designed to meet the critical staff shortages occurring as a result of COVID-19. You will need to register and create an account using your name and e-mail. Once you have created your account, you may complete the course on your own time, stopping as needed, and then rejoining the class wherever you left off. Completion of this training is intended to prepare you to develop, manage and maintain a surge plan. ​

Workforce Toolkit

This toolkit will help state affiliates and member provider organizations work with their local community – legislators, WIBs, educators, potential employees, and the media – to increase the scope and capacity of the long term care workforce by making a positive impression, communicating ideas and information, educating individuals, and correcting misconceptions.

The Affordable Care Act requires CMS to collect electronic staffing data from nursing centers. CMS developed the Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) to collect this data. This AHCA webpage offers the latest CMS data and additional resources, including business vendors that offer services.

Employer.gov

Employer.gov was created by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide information about the responsibilities of job creators toward their workers and answer common questions. This compliance assistance tool covers various topics and labor laws enforced by Federal agencies, including OSHA and FLSA.

Office for Civil Rights

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces federal civil rights laws, conscience and religious freedom laws, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules, and the Patient Safety Act and Rule. The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects the rights of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve their wages and working conditions. Review their website to understand the rights of your employees.

How to Be a Nurse Assistant

AHCA's How to Be a Nurse Assistant prepares students to pass the certification exam and enter the workforce as the most highly-qualified CNAs in the field. The curriculum allows your students to choose the format that works best for them by offering a range of print, online, and media resources. 
How to Be a Nurse Assistant curriculum is also available as a hybrid program, offering your students flexibility, quality, and convenience through a blend of online coursework and in-person clinical and skills training.

Building Prevention into Every Day Practice​

Infection Prevention Control Specialist (IPCO) Training

This AHCA/NCAL course provides specialized training for healthcare professionals who seek to serve as Infection Preventionists--a training requirement as part of the CMS Requirements of Participation for Long Term Care Facilities. Individuals are specially trained to effectively implement and manage an Infection Prevention and Control Program at their skilled nursing center or assisted living community.

Requirements of Participation e-Competencies ​

AHCA’s Requirements of Participation eCompetencies® is designed specifically to help skilled nursing facilities comply with F-Tag 726 under CMS’ Requirements of Participation (ROP) using a comprehensive competency tool that is interdisciplinary and relevant to all nursing home staff. The program offers an extensive library of evidence-based skills checklists that allow evaluators to assess and document staff skills in real time. Videos are included to aid in skill progression and remediation. ​
