Geografie categories[edit]Hi Bennylin, maybe you can take a look at the geographical (geografie) categories? My topographic knowledge of Indonesia sucks, you can probably find or create the right categories way easier than me. You can find a list of most used categories at User:Multichill/KIT/geografie.  Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them. Here's how: 1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:  2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets". When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Thanks again for your uploads! User license template[edit]Regarding your user license template at Template:Bennylin, have you considered adding translations in Bahasa Indonesia or other languages? An example would be User:Raboe001/licence, which has translations in multiple languages and a langswitch used to display a different one per one's user settings. If you are interested, you could add an Indonesian translation to RaBoe's template. If you are interested, I can make requests for people to translate your user template. For a collage, the license of the picture inserted is added to the collage. I.E. if a pic is GNU, and another is CC-BY-SA, then the collage is both GNU and CC-BY-SA. If one image is public domain, but another is licensed, then the license is effect. With the images there:
Aside from the PD one, the pics are CC, so the license should be CC. I think the license with the strictest terms is the one to be applied, and I think it would be CC-BY-SA 3.0 since that has the strictest terms. So overall, in my view, the license for the collage should be CC-BY-SA 3.0 Unported. If you are still unsure, you are welcome to ask the village pump, but I believe that the newer and/or stricter CC license prevails. Anyway, if you'd like, would it be alright if you added English descriptions to the images with only Indonesian descriptions, and Indonesian to the ones with only English descriptions? Persoalan[edit]Over-categorizing on wp commons can be a problem - your templated Borobudurphotographs make it impossible to separate the sub - categories from the parent category - so Bennylin/Borobudur/ and the sub-category it should be in fewer categories... terlalu banyak mas!!! If possible the template should be reversed - as it is more like an advertisement for bennylin - than it does an adequate separation of categories of aspects of Borobudur. Not sure why and how to fix - but as it is - it runs counter to general management of such images. I am suprised you havent been checked about using a template within the info section - it renders sub-category creation impossible without keeping the parent category tied to your name... File:Borobudur_Indonesia_2010_Bennylin_01.jpg - there is no need for 3 categories to be locked - and I would question any usage of the date category as having any effectiveness at all, to have 3 categories where one would work is a complete misunderstanding of categories:
are simply over-doing it, and no functional use.
Please feel free to query this with other editors - understand there may be more than one way of viewing this, however I would suggest that 'locking in' over-categorisation with a template is not an accepatable practice and that commons being the size it is simply has this practice slip in - but in the simplest way of looking at how it works - is simply not acceptable in the long term management of categories SatuSuro (talk) 01:22, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Question about Indonesian words for English terms in File:Sprachen Osttimors-en.png[edit]Bennylin, I want the graphics lab to make a Bahasa Indonesia version of File:Sprachen Osttimors-en.png and of File:Timor Sprache en.png - They are East Timor language maps. But in order for them to do that, they need to know what Indonesian words to substitute in place of the English. What are the Indonesian translations of the terms in the two files? I know that when it crashed in Fukuoka it had blue paint, but the plane may have been repainted (many airplanes get repainted when the liveries change). The crash was back in 1996. For instance File:McDonnell_Douglas_DC-10-30,_Garuda_-_Indonesian_Airways_AN1018724.jpg is supposed to be PK-GIE in 1985. What would be nice is finding a pic of the plane PK-GIE in the early 1990s. As for the casualties, some countries' accident reports publish the full list of casualties but not all do. I'm trying to split up the April one into the standard picture by individual date and the Candi Sukuh ones into years at Category:Candi Sukuh by year but if they remain at both the main categories and there, it's duplicative. Category:Mamuju is about a city in Category:Mamuju Regency. Why did you make Category:Central Mamuju Regency, Category:Mamuju Regency and Category:Pasangkayu Regency subcategories of this city? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Multichill (talk) 20:46, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

This template seems to be putting things into categories with incorrect names. For example, it puts File:63.00.00 KalimantanSelatan.svg into Category:Locator maps of regencies of South Kalimantan, which does not exist. However, the existing category is named Category:Locator maps of South Kalimantan regencies, with the name of the province before "regencies", and that seems to be the standard naming.
There are two issues with this. One is the incorrect category name; could you please fix that? The other issue is that a template in userspace should probably not be used on live pages. Could you either move this to template space, or change the pages that use it to work the same as thos that don't? Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:07, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Bennylin, I was wondering if you could make a map of the United States of Indonesia (Republik Indonesia Serikat) in the style of the historical Indonesian provinces maps you made (:File:Indonesia provinces 1945.svg|this being an example)? I know that there are vector maps of this period of history on Commons, however, I'm trying to make an animation of the territorial evolution of Indonesia and would like to have this included using the series of maps you've made.
