- Große Konzerthallen werden in Frankreich üblicherweise als „Zénith“ (deutsch Zenit) bezeichnet. Zurzeit existieren 18 Zéniths, ein 19. ist in Le Port auf Réunion, einem Überseedépartement, im Bau. Das Vorgängerprojekt eines Zénith in Saint-Denis wurde aufgegeben. Der Begriff ist geschützt und darf erst dann verwendet werden, wenn bestimmte Bedingungen erfüllt werden. So muss ein Zénith unter anderem ein Fassungsvermögen von mindestens 3.000 Zuschauern aufweisen. 1984 wurde das erste Zénith im Parc de la Villette in Paris eröffnet. - Le Zénith (French pronunciation: [lə zenit]) is the name given to a series of indoor arenas in France. The first arena, the "Zénith Paris" is a rejuvenation of the Pavillon de Paris. In French culture, the word "zénith" has become synonymous with "theater". A zénith is a theater that can accommodate concert tours, variety shows, plays, musicals and dance recitals. All zeniths carry a similar internal design of an indoor amphitheater that can seat at least 3,000 spectators. A venue was planned to open in Saint-Denis, Réunion entitled Zénith du Port. The arena was proposed in 2005 by the city council. Planned to open in 2008 with a capacity of 6,000, the construction of the arena was shut down. It was determined the venue would not be profitable as there was no research done to see which events the arena could house. They also felt the venue would be a hard sell to bring in international talent. Kabardock was built on the proposed site of the zenith. (en)

In 1981 besloot de toenmalige Franse minister van cultuur dat Parijs een nieuwe, grote concertzaal nodig had om het , een tot concertzaal verbouwde slachterij, te vervangen. Hij liet deze zaal in Parc de la Villette bouwen en noemde het Zénith. Vervolgens is dit type concertzalen 'geëxporteerd' naar andere steden in Frankrijk. In 2008 stonden er zeventien in het hele land. Een Zénith dient aan bepaalde voorwaarden te voldoen om zichzelf zo te mogen noemen, aangezien er rechten berusten op dit type zaal. Zo moet de ruimte plaats bieden aan ten minste 3.000 personen en variabel in te delen zijn waardoor er kleinere zaaltjes gevormd kunnen worden. Zarówno Anywhere but Home, koncertowe CD/DVD wydane przez Evanescence, jak i Hullabaloo Soundtrack angielskiego zespołu Muse zostały nagrane na Le Zènith w Paryżu. W marcu 2005 włoska śpiewaczka Laura Pausini dała dwa koncerty, z których materiał umieszczono na CD/DVD . Również rockowa supergrupa muzyczna TOTO nagrała w paryskim Zénith DVD koncertowe w ramach swojej trasy w lutym 2007 roku. (pl)
